hows turtle wax hold up?

I saw of a friend of mine using the spray on turtle wax. He just sprayed an area and wiped. Look liked it did a pretty good job.

Anyone used this product or heard of it?

What type of wax would you recommend for a silver and black car. Im not hardcore into cleaning my car but just want it to look good and protect the paint

I have never used the spray on turtle wax. I used to use the sponge applied turtle wax but unless you have an electric buffer it will kill your arms trying to get it off. I now use rain-x wax. It looks great and comes off very easily.

Since joining this forum and Yotatech, I've switched to Zaino's....others use Griot's Best of Show.

After being a loyal Meguiar's customer (which I believe is the best of the mass-market waxes), one use of Zaino's convinced me. Makes the truck and our Camry look like mirrors, no swirling on the clear coat.

yea, i love zaino. I put two coats on my titanium 03'. Its so easy and the water beads up great. I plan on putting two more coats before winter really sets in. The titanium color is amazing for hiding swirl marks and water spots. Alot of times I let most of my car air dry, and you can't even tell.

Go Zaino Brothers my man.Did my 03 black runner sport last weekend.First i washed it with Dawn, i clayed the car(didn't have to since it was not that old) but i did,next i used 4 drops of ZFX flash cure accelerator additive with 2 onces of Z5 polish for swirl marks,let it dry for 1 hour wiped off the haze wiped it down with z6 Gloss enhancer spray and applied Z3 with 4 drops of ZFX let dry and wiped off haze and then wiped down with Z6. I did this in four hours. Went out that night and you could watch the heads turning.This is by far the best on the market www.Zaino.com.

I did mine with zaino's last weekend. I have mixed feelings about it right now. It took me 6 hours because I did the same as tshockey, wash, dry, clay, wash, dry, wax, wax. It was a lot of steps. The clay didn't seem to do anything, but after drying I did notice that it removed almost all the water spots that I couldn't get off by just washing. The car looks amazing, but in direct sunlight I still see a lot of streaking, which is probably my own fault because by the last coat my arm was numb...Not that the zaino's is hard to apply or remove, just that there are so many steps and the truck has a lot of surface area. I tried the Z-6 spray and it just seemed to streak more, so I didn't use it. My opinion bottom line: It shines like a mirror and better than any other black vehicle, but if it doesn't last six months or more I probably won't use it again (plus it's expensive). Has anyone been using it for awhile (say longer than a year?) Does it really protect as long as it claims? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

It could be that you got it on a little bit thick, so that it didn't dry completely before you tried to remove it. Also, the Z-6 spray will streak if you use more than a very light mist.

I have had the first coats on since June -- between 4 and 5 months -- so it's not exactly what you're asking. But, this last weekend, I put an additional coat on just to protect over the winter. Based on how well the water ran off and how both vehicles looked, I don't think the additional coat was even needed.

With Zaino's on the car, it takes less than 15 inutes to wash and dry a 1997 Camry (done it in as little as 10). With a new coat of Meguiar's, I never got below a half hour. The difference? Water just runs off with Zaino's.

Don't forget that the next time you polish, you shouldn't need to go through all the steps you did the first time. This time around, we just washed, used Z-6 spray, then a coat of Z-2 for the truck, and Z-5 then Z-2 for the Camry (wanted deeper shine on it).

I expect to clay the car and truck every couple of years or so, not every time it's polished. After trying the clay, though, I'd use it regardless of the polish -- it made a huge difference on the Camry...less so on a 4Runner that was a few months old.

Based on what I've seen so far, I'd also expect to strip the wax every 2-3 years or so. May try even longer depending how the vehicle looks.

As a point of reference, this weekend took 5 hours to set up, wash, dry, and polish a 4Runner and a Camry, 2 coats of Endurance on the tires, vacuum clean, check tires, tear down, polish wheels, mini-detail, etc. Of that time, it took about 45 minutes to apply and remove put each coat of polish on the Camry.

Didn't think 5 hours was much time considering all the work done.

I used the rub on turtle wax and ya it is a pain in the arm to put on but it held up fine all through the rough colorado winter.

Zaino Streakink

Zaino will streak if you don't allow proper drying time.I did mine in the sun and it dried in less than an hour.I had no problem with the z6 streaking.I still have a few swirl marks but hope to get those out with more Z5 applications.

Ok, it's been long enough for me to forget the agony of washing and waxing it, and let me clarify my earlier post. I really do like the zaino's, I think I was just a little bitter about how long it took, but I had already thought of the fact that I won't be claying it again or using 2 coats of wax for quite some time. I did want anyone who considers buying it to know that the first time is a royal pain, but so far it seems worth it. It has rained a few times and the water not only beads off great, but my SUV still looks clean even after a few rain showers and a bunch of construction dust from next to where I park at work. I really do recommend the zaino's, and thanks for the comparison link, it made me feel a bit better about how long it will hold up. I've also had quite a few comments on how shiny it is, which is a nice feeling after spending that long working on it, so once again I highly recommend zaino's to anyone as picky as me about how the 4runner looks.
