Hub bushing

1990 T4r: 4x4, auto, SR5, 3vz

In the process of replacing passenger side CV axle:

Pulled the hub and rotor assembly and noticed the inner side of the hub has what I would describe as a brass bushing with grooves, what I am not clear about is whether the grooves in the inner brass bushing is due to damage or normal grooves for oiling purposes??

I am looking forward to assembling the passenger side rotor and hub but before doing so I would appreciate comments/advice or suggestions.

They come like that new

Spindle Bushing- Toyota 4Runner, Pickup 4x4 IFS (1986-1995) OEM Front Spindle Inner Brass Bushing For CV-Axle 90381-30006

That being said, there’s a way to add grease to that bushing after the axle install so it doesn’t rattle around. You can use a special tool or make it. If I already had it gutted like you do, I would just apply a decent layer when I install the CV back in.

But yeah, the grooves are like that to direct lubrication I believe.
