Huge Fuel issue

So over the Christmas break I did a lot of traveling from family to family,
I just purchased a 2000 limited 4x4 4runner 2weeks ago and haven't really
been able to log my fuel mileage. I drove conservatively and was shocked to see
that i got 41kms to a 1/4 tank

There has to be something wrong here, I also noticed when I had the truck
up on the hoist that there was a exhaust leak at the front Air/Fuel sensor, could
this be giving me poor fuel economy?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Yes, absolutely the exhaust leak can cause fuel issues. Also, to get an accurate reading for mileage, you really need to keep track for at least a few tanks. Taking a reading for less than one tank can show false results since a lot of vehicles fuel gauges dont read true throughout the full cycle of the tank.

:iagree: Totally accurate. If there is an exhaust leak at or before sensors, exhaust can escape and in turn get in. if this happens, can cause false readings. in turn the ecu says hey im not happy here so do what you have to to correct it. ecu then dumps more fuel in or takes it away to make the sensor happy. this causing poor fuel economy. I wouldnt be surprised if soon you had a check engine light. and like Jeremy said calculate fuel economy over a couple of tanks. take in to consideration that if you start and run the vehicle to warm up before you drive it, this uses gas even if not driven it all adds up to prro fuel economy.
