When, as in what are the indicators, that my shocks are done? Not leaking last I checked. If I hit a good bump I feel like it can skate a bit. More noticable if I'm turning at the time. Not just a pot hole, rather bumps big enough to catch more than one wheel.

the rear end walks out a bit on those bumps?

how many miles? based on the year alone, I would guess you need them.

My 2006 Sport with 159k miles was in much need of fresh shocks/struts. If I hit a dip or a bump at highway speeds it would sway and rock too much for comfort.

I changed out the sway bar bushings and all 4 shocks. It rides beautifully now. My shocks were not leaking, but they were original and it was well past their time.
 
Any tips beyond reading the suspension sticky? I was just looking at Toytecs site at their lift kits. I know a lift is not required, but let's face it. we all want to... ;)

Problem is the cashflow took a setback recently in our house. :(
 
The great thing about this forum is all the others who have upgraded. I would recommend shopping the classifieds for FJ, Tacoma, and other 4runner suspension set ups. The only other thing is to watch those websites for scratch and dent bargains. Other than that good luck with your truck mods!
 
I have also been wondering about this lately, I am just over 110,000 miles and am still riding on the original shocks and struts. So it is probably time for me to change/upgrade

I have the Daystar lift kit on the front and rear, but I am trying to decide if I should but toyota fronts and rears and keep the daystar OR if I should just by the adjustable Bilsteins in the front and lose the daystars up front.

What do you guys think?


Also are you guys buying new coil-over springs when you are doing the replacements?
