hurricane causing increase gas $

Anyone seen the rise of gas $ in their kneck of the woods due to the hurricane? There was a comment on cnn about the effects of the hurricane at the pumps last week.

Many people were running to the pumps yesterday because word spread that prices were going up by $0.15 due to the Hurricane. There was a dash to the pumps and at the 4 gas stations I drove by had run out of gas. unfortunately, I really needed gas at the time as I was already on E.

Last night the gas price was $2.67 for 87 with one gas station posting $2.75 because of demand. This was at 10pm.

$3.00 here we come.

Dunno about your kneck of the woods but here in SoCal I just paid $3.19/gal yesterday afternoon. There's nothing but sunshine over our oil fields and refineries. Why are gas prices high? Because they can be.

Gas prices will continue to rise... Many of the refineries were based in MS or along the gulf coast where Katrina had a major impact. Until all the US refineries are back to normal, expect to see the prices rise to reflect decreased supply. Even in CA, some gas will be detoured to other states to make up for the decreased production from other areas of the US.

Back in the spring, I heard an analyst saying that oil prices would be at $100 per barrel soon (that was when they were around $42 per barrel). Most people said he was crazy, but here we are at $70 per barrel and climbing...

Tuesday afternoon gas went from 2.38 to 2.69 for 87 octane. I filled up on monday.

Gas is going to soar, but it will get back down. At least ya'll have gas available. I'm in Baton Rouge and the pumps are empty all over town. I'm just thankful that Baton Rouge was spared by the storm. Granted, I haven't had electricity at my house since Monday at 5am, things could have been worse. I have family and friends in the Slidell and New Orleans areas. They lost EVERYTHING. So while we can sit and complain that gas prices are 10 cents higher then they were last week, what's a few dollars compared to everything you own?

This is nothing but profiteering. None of these gas stations are feeling the affect of higher oil prices this quickly. It should take a week or two for that cost difference to catch up to us. That should be illegal.

Local price jumped from C$0.975/L (U$3.11/USgal) last night to C$1.209 (U$3.86/USgal) this morning. Talk about sticker shock!
We aren't even in the same country.

I heard the same thing on the radio in Orlando today, that some stations here have already run out cuz everyone's been rushing to buy gas before the hurricane price spike. I'm glad I topped off my tank yesterday.

yea over here in kentucky over night gas went up as much as .30 cents in some towns near me... I did find one lil gas station ran by some foreigners that was .20 cent cheaper than anyother gas station in town... I never thought i would be happy to see 2.69 compare to the 2.89 and 2.99 that everyone else has...

All I know is this sucks no matter how you look at it. I never complain but if they keep going up and up how can you not. It has already topped $3.00 here in Chicagoland...... as high as $3.31 or so I hear.

Our Mobil went up $.35 overnight. Unbelievable... The gas they are selling now for $3.50/gallon were bought a month ago at $2.00/gallon. Unreal how we are getting raped with these prices and no one is doing a damn thing about it. I am now literally only going to work and home, thats it!! Doesn't pay to go out shopping because it is costing a small fortune to fill up for the month.
