I am getting ready to replace my stock speakers with Hertz components in front and 6.5'' in back. The fella at the store was running the sales pitch on Hushmat. He made a good case with regard to reducing rattles and helping the mid-range base. I have no prior experience with this type of product and was wondering if anyone has used it (or similar)? If so, did you notice a difference or any benefit? In the end, is it worth it?

its only worth getting it, if they do a proper install. have to install both inside the door and outside to see a big difference in sound. it does give u more mid bass from the speakers if u have it on an amp. what hertz model speakers are u getting? is it the hsk?
I wish they were the HSK. I'm going with the more budget friendly DSK. Either way, it will sound better than what is in it now. They ran the demo speakers on a similar power source to the stock headunit and they sounded great, but it was with the hushmat. Unfortuantely I couldn't compare what it would sound like without. Based on what you said, if installed properly, the hushmat will make a difference. However, the amp is more important.
Do things right the first time around! If you want to ever upgrade your system then go for it now so you have a better budget later to upgrade. HOWEVER I am nuts and used the Sound damper ALL Over my 01' Avalon from floors- roof- doors to trunk. Even on my gas tank cover (inside)
Outside road noise almost gone.
What that hushmat will do on the doors is provide a better protection of outside noise while making the sheet-metal (the door) heavier and more solid to prevent a bend (which happens on a small scale) That will provide what is "heard" better mid bass response. Forget what the sales rep said about the product - IT will provide a crispier and clearer sound out of any speaker if this is done CORRECT. It will make $20 speakers sound like high end speakers if done CORRECT!
