HVAC control lighting isn't working

Truck: 1999 Limited.

Problem: The little screen on the HVAC control isn't lit at night when the lights are on. Plus, only the left half of the knobs/buttons are lit (temp knob, fresh/recirc. button, etc.). The whole right side is dark, as is the screen itself.

Any way to fix this, or am I stuck replacing the whole thing?

Thanks!

P.S. I really need a service manual! ;):

I just did this last week...there are four bulbs in the climate control. All you have to do is pull the paneling off which is really easy and take the face plate off the front of the climate control...then there are 3 screws you have to take off and then there are 2 plugs in the back that must be unplugged and then once you have it off there are 2 screws in the back. The unit will then split in two pieces. Then the bulbs take a 1/2 of a turn to take them out. These are special order from the dealer or you can order leds from autoillumination.com, you'll need two neo wedge types A and B. hope that helps

No problem! The LEDS make it nice and bright and the last a lot longer the the stock ones and the dealer wanted $6 per bulb!!!!

I also replaced mine last week. Remove your dash and take out your HVAC controller. Take it to the dealer, and show him what areas aren't lit up. He can order the correct light bulbs. There are 4 total, sounds like you have a couple burned out. They were $6.50 each for me.

I'm intrigued by the LED prospect. I'm gonna try it!

Thanks again, I'll be sure to ping you if I run into any snags...maybe you can bail me out! :bigok:
