HVAC Lights Inop

Well I just purchased my first foreign vehicle 4 days ago. I bought a 2005 4Runner Sport edition. Although I love the SUV, I noticed the HVAC dials do not illuminate when the headlights are turned on. I took it to the dealership today and they said they have to order new dials.

I am disappointed that I am having problems already. Hopefully this is the only one for a long time!

Anyone else have the same problem?

I also noticed my 4Runner is full time 4-wheel drive, but I notice on some 4Runners you have the option of 2HI or 4HI.

I looked at an 07 Sport and it was fully selectable, unlike mine.

I don't know about the HVAC lights but all V8 Runners are full time 4WD. Only the V6 is selectable 2H/4H.

On my 2003 Limited V8 the lights are little bulbs which go in the back of the dial unit. Don't think you should have to replace the dials

Well according to the dealer at Spartan Toyota in Lansing, Mi, they had to order two new dials. My individual push button lights are inop as are the background illumination. Only the far right dial works completely. I will let you know tomorrow how the new dials work out.

I just bought my 2005 Sport 4Runner 7 days ago! Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.....

Well the dealership just installed the two new HVAC dials. All of the three dials have background illumination when I turn my headlights on.

All of the individual buttons light up when pressed, execpt for the temp increase and temp decrease buttons. Those two do not light up when pressed. It appears as if they have button lights, but nothing lights up when you push them.
