Hypocrisy at its worse (rant warning)

And New York just went full retard today. F*** New York.

Good luck to those lawful gun owners in New York. Can't wait to leave IL soon as I have no doubt they will try to follow in NY's footsteps.

I personally think any gun control laws should apply to regular law enforcement as well. Let them carry low capacity mags too. No "assault weapons" in cruisers either. Let's make it equal for everyone.....except the criminals, of course.

Agreed. It's time for the government to take some of its own medicine.

Looking forward to the day when these gun-grabbing limousine liberals order their protection detail to only carry six-shooter revolvers. Governor Cuomo, lead by example.

If that is ever done, then prepare for 1997 North Hollywood shootout all over again....

I wonder if Obama's and NY's new laws would prevent that shootout............

I'll play devils advocate here....You could take it a step further. All the ultra-libs that argue the second amendment only applies "well-regulatd militia" should support taking guns away from anyone but the military. Police departments are not "militia". neither are body-guards, bank-guards, or any hired security. See how they think that would work out.

even trying to play the devils advocate the ultra libs are still misinformed and wrong, a miltia isn't the governments military it's basically anything but
The term militia (pron.: /mɨˈlɪʃə/),[1] or irregular army, is defined in the American Heritage Dictionary as an army composed of ordinary citizens[2] rather than professional soldiers or the whole body of physically fit civilians eligible by law for military service to call for service in times of emergency. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the term as a part of the organized armed forces of a country liable to call only in emergency or the body of citizens organized for military service.

i think a good way around all of this is for the NRA to declare themselves a militia, lol ..... i wonder if that would work, you send in your fee and your part of the "militia" .... and again why the 2nd amendment was meant for protection from tyranny and not grocery shopping/hunting.....

This was pretty well settled by Heller (again, I suggest it is great reading); the right extends to citizens who are not members of any militia. To argue otherwise is likely fruitless.

Well, Obama released his plan to reduce "gun violence" today. Pretty comprehensive.....except not a single mention of violent video games and media. That wouldn't have anything to do with his rich friends in Hollywood/ silicon valley?

my little message to the left....
:infidel::infidel::infidel::infidel:Rant warning:infidel::infidel::infidel:
i've been a liberal/democrat my whole entire life , and still am on a vast majority of the social issues , marriage, abortion, ect ect ect but i find myself being pushed farther and farther to the right by the lefts terrible budget policies and i don't know how else to frame it other than weaklings who have no idea what it actually means to be an American...

i am a dual national and the first of a generation born in this country from the UK (fathers side), i have lived both extensively here and in the liberal holy land of Europe, i come from a very heavy republican family but was raised on the left coast in a very liberal state, i always pushed back on my parents republican views thinking they were antiquated and out of touch, and in some ways there were , but only now when i'm older i can see what my dad was always saying about how UK manufacturing was run into the ground, how the special interests took control, so the majority suffered, and basically all of the things that are happening here have already happened in the uk, in his lifetime,i can honestly tell you people from other countries are very envious of our rights and freedoms that the left seems so ready to trade away for whatever the social cause is of the day...

i have friends come and visit from all over the EU routinely and there's not one of them that doesn't wish to live here one day, gun violence included , and when i take them shooting their fears produced by the media literally seem to vanish as they have it built up in their head guns are soooo evil they are likely to kill you just by looking at them, i often find it funny that the people who appreciate America the most tend to be either people who fought for it or aren't originally from here...
it's taken me 31 years and these recent arguments to make me understand that, there is a line when political correctness, save our babies, and everyone gets a trophy, has gone to far , there is a point when trying to save one life by sacrificing the rights of the MANY who have fought and died for that/those very same right(s) has gone to far as well......i voted for obama the first time, i voted independent last time and if this idiocy keeps up i may just have to go full republican just to counter act the stupidity.......

why must we make laws that restrict what people want to do if it's not harming anyone else? punish people for crimes, we got plenty of laws already as others have pointed out, enforce those, instead of limiting the freedoms of others, i'm really beginning to see the hypocrisy here, liberals are about as liberal as Christians are Christ like, seriously same crap as why i left the church and now call my self an agnostic, practice what you preach mofo's , if your going to be liberal for the rights of women, races, children and all of the rest you have to respect the rights of law abiding citizens to own arms if they so choose, if you don't like guns don't own one, if you think children are liable to accidentally shoot a friend with a gun , don't have children and for FFS don't get a gun...as if your not smart enough to keep the gun away from your kid you probably should have kids in the first place....honestly liberals have been screaming for years about letting people do what they want, where's the liberty in taking away the citizens right to defends themselves ? i really, really hope i don't get sucked into this whole thing of having to vote for someone i hate just because i want to protect my rights and the constitution.....it shouldn't have to be like that, where is the balance, where is the pride country and respect for fellow man? i voted for gay marriage because i respect an individuals right to do as they please a long as it doesn't infringe on the rights or property of another.

"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action, according to our will, within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others."
-- Thomas Jefferson

i believed in this, still do, i believed in it when i voted for women's rights, i believed it when i voted for gay marriage , and i believe it still it to this day with the right to bare arms
thinker John Locke is often credited with founding liberalism as a distinct philosophical tradition. Locke argued that each man has a natural right to life, liberty and property[8] and according to the social contract governments must not violate these rights. Liberals opposed traditional conservatism and sought to replace absolutism in government with democracy and the rule of law.

The revolutionaries in the American Revolution, the French Revolution and other liberal revolutions from that time used liberal philosophy to justify the armed overthrow of what they saw as tyrannical rule. The nineteenth century saw liberal governments established in nations across Europe, Spanish America, and North America.[9] In this period, the dominant ideological opponent of liberalism was classical conservatism.

how can you not tell me that they are hypocrites? how can they say the right for a woman to potentially take a life in pregnancy with an abortion is more "just" than depriving me of my right to bare arms due to the potential risk of life from my firearm? at least with legal gun owners they have to get permits before pulling the trigger.....you don't get to pick liberty or freedom, it's inherent, you don't get to tell Muslims they can't worship here because you don't agree with it, you can't tell a couple that loves each other that they cannot be married with the same level as respect as the rest of society and you can't deprive a person of the right to protect themselves because we are a free country that was built on liberty for the individual , not a place where the many or even the few can take the rights of another ........this whole thing is literally making me sick....and has essentially turned me against my own party completely....i know i really sound like a chest thumping republican but how can you not be on a subject that actually is about the basis of our country, it's just a shame the republicans have played that card one to many times and essentially have cried wolf about the destruction of the constitution and now when something as huge as this comes along their voices are tired and mute on the ears of the public....
one last quote because we know those add creditability to you statement....

“If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain.”
Winston Churchill

i'm taking a break from these conversations as i'm sure i'm of no help, there's plenty other people smarter than i, all making good points, it's definitely a strange time to be alive friends , best of luck to you all regardless of your views....not matter how wrong they may be :sorry:...haha j/k, i wish no bad feelings between me or any other fellow American as at the end of the day we're all in this grand social experiment together!:usa2::juggle:

Great post theizzardking, almost spot on to the essay I linked above you.

I'm cross posting my reply from another thread but it fits here

Where I think all the questioning is coming from is again the point being made time and time again as Rahm Emanuel stated "Never let a good crisis go to waste". All the misinformation and secrecy and whatnot is an agenda driven purpose. Ben Shapiro said it best on the Piers Morgan show. They're standing on the graves of children to push an agenda.

I for one am not stupid and know that to be that far left leaning you have to be "f*cked up" in the head. So it comes as no surprise to me that this mass gun control push is happening.

I just wish they tried pushing this crap through maybe after the bodies were at least in the ground and America was back to being hooked on reality TV and forgotten all about this, Benghazi, F&F, the economy, Obamacare, etc.

But aside from all that, I've never seen such open discussion on a possible tyrannical government. Such openess of stating people will not comply (including me). Such opposition from States with regards to marijuana, gun laws, immigration, threats of seceding, etc. I mean every time Obama and his goons open their mouth they're being met with wide open criticism and you're either vastly for what they want or greatly against it. It's the free shit army (his supporters) vs. the people that actually have to work and pay for the free shit army.

People are virtually fed up. There is a reason most dictatorships and communists countries get rid of the middle class. They're a threat to the heads of state, the ruling class, etc.

Me, I'm an average guy, with an average life, but have generally been a happy, law abiding citizen. Got a job with the DOJ, bought into the thought of helping my country. Staunch constitutionalist. But quite frankly I'm getting sick and effing tired of paying for the voters that elect people who don't represent my interests. I'm sick of the government trying to tell me what they feel is right or wrong for me. And I'm sick and ****ing tired of the government thinking they can rule me as a subject and not a citizen of this country.

Cloward Piven...google it. They're dividing and conquering, and sadly winning.

Good post Lizzardking. I'm a converted Democrat myself. My maternal grandfather was even a delegate back in the 60's! I'm independent now....probably more of a libertarian. Both parties are out of control. BUT, I think it's gotten to this point because of uninformed voters, an info-tainment media, and the flawed nature of the two-party system itself.

I have been a father for 20 years, an engineer for 25, and a husband for 28 years. I have never been without a job nor have I ever accepted something I did not earn. We have been putting money into our own retirement accounts since we got married because even then we knew we could depend on nobody but ourselves to take care of us. We have also helped my wife's parents financially for the last 20 years. Those are my qualifications for what I am about to say:
I am very conservative on some issues such as budget, military and guns. I am somewhat liberal on a woman's right to choose and social issues. I do not know what that makes me but I almost always vote conservative, and in a state with lots of conservative democrats I end up having to vote for them. Presidential and federal always republicans though.
I have encouraged my children since they were old enough to speak to have a great imagination. I wanted them to think they could play pro sports, be a cowboy, go to the moon and anything else they could dream. I told them they could be president, find a cure for cancer or be the worlds strongest man. I did not discourage them from thinking they could save the world. I WANTED them to think they could do anything! In short, I wanted them to be a liberal, until they realized for themselves that, for example, saving the world costs a lot of money and being a pro sports star took years and years of single minded focus very few achieve. My goal was to have them continue to dream while teaching them to be self sufficient and depend on no one for their happiness. My kid's are not kids anymore. They are in college to be a nurse practitioner and engineer respectively. They understand much more about the world than I ever did at their age and they believe as I do: Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime. I am blessed.
