If you like the possibility of having transmissions problems, you picked the right auto. Nonetheless, it does look nice inside IMHO.
Coming from a 3rd gen owner, why did you get rid of the 5th gen? I am still on the fence about it in general, though the PRO is nice.

I've owned 5 Jeeps and loved them all. The pic u posted looks pretty sick, not gonna lie. Hellcat!? Hellyea!!! What they need is a SRT GC with the Hellcat engine. Now that would be wicked! :boink:

I have to admit, the JGC and Citadel are way nicer inside and when I was looking to replace the Subaru legacy, the interiors did sway a lot.
but in the end, I went with always worked. since I have been driving Toyota's since the early 80's, not once has any Toyota been bad for my family. I think the worst issue I had was my 91 Cressida temp gauge. at times it would drop to the bottom, tap just above the temp gauge and it would jump right back up.
the brutal winters up here and not once have they not started or failed in any aspect.
at my age, I don't have time anymore to spend hours/days/weeks waiting for parts, repairs, etc.
but for that aspect, the 4runner is way behind the times on interior but normally there shit don't break or go haywire.
in the end, as long as your happy with your purchase, ignore the noise everyone spews about your choice.

You know, I've always said that the 2012 5th Gen was the only vehicle purchase I've ever made without an ounce of buyer's remorse. It's a great vehicle. If I could justify keeping it and getting her the Jeep, I would. Even the guys at the Jeep dealership that were evaluating the trade really liked it.
In the end, my wife drives it more than I do and she kept struggling with the part time 4WD system for some reason. Plus her commute involves some tight turns and u-turns and with 4WD engaged it just wasn't easy.
I considered getting a new SR5 since the drive controls are more simplistic but the front is just too ugly and really not that much improved since 2012. I was heavily leaning toward a limited but the all or nothing pricing model just wasn't a good fit and she doesn't need that much vehicle imo.
So I laid out a few options for her and the Jeep was the only thing she was remotely interested in (she really likes the 4R too). After seeing it and driving it I have to admit I was impressed. It really does make the 4R seem very archaic in comparison, but as mentioned sometimes more gadgets mean more problems.
The good news is I'll stick around because I miss my off-topic buddies (and nemesis... nemeses... nemesises... nemesissies).
I ended up with a 2015 JGC 4WD Altitude edition (pictured) with the Sunroof, Sound upgrade, and Rear Cam. I'm just here to take my lumps like a man.

If it makes you feel any better, I'll admit to owning a vehicle that could be the poster child for vehicle gremlins. But it's a lot of fun when everything is working.

When I was 16 I scored a 68 Firebird. It was a great car but not good in winter. My uncle had a 74 CJ-5 as a plow vehicle. I talked him into selling me the CJ as a driver while my firebird sat protected in the garage.
I drove the snot out of that CJ and loved every minute of it. I sold it when I joined the Marines in 1989. In 1994 I decided it was time to buy my first new car so I walked into a Jeep dealership and custom ordered a new 1994 Wrangler. I got the 4cyl, 5 speed, limited slip rear and factory A/C. Other than that it was a soft top and pretty much bare bones but I was in my 20's and stationed at Camp Pendleton Ca and not much beat driving around southern California in your Jeep with the top off.
I drove that Jeep every day from the day I bought it new until I finally bought my 4R in 2012. Honestly, other than general maintenance items like oil changes, tune ups, tires, and brakes I had ZERO problems with that Jeep in the 18 years I drove it. I love it so much that I kept it when I bought my 4R. It now sits under a carport at my vacation home in the Pocono mountains. I use it up there all the time in the summer and one day I'll re-do it for my son who is 9. It was and still is a fantastic vehicle.
That being said I've heard nightmare stories about the Grand Cherokee's. A good friend's wife HAD to have one and as God as my witness that frigging thing LIVED at the dealer. It seemed like every time her got it back from being fixed, something else would go wrong. I have no real world experience with a Grand Cherokee, but I made a mental note to never own one.

My wife drives a '14 GC Limited, tech package, nearly an overland without the V8 - problem free so far, already 15k on it. The electronic trans is strange but you get used to it. I love towing with it - 8 gears are fantastic then drop your trailer and put it in sport mode it's a whole different vehicle.

Yeah the shifter does seem a little quirky but I'm sure we'll adjust. That 8 speed is really smooth though and, even with less power, makes it quite a bit quicker than the 5th gen.

That one was not my call. I wanted white or red and she insisted on the black. I guess I'll have to order the big bottle of the No Rinse now.
