I can't build an SR5 Without Leather?

Could be because of the area you live in. In Pittsburgh, I can build one without leather.

Can build one w/o leather in my zip. Although, I can not build one w/o a moonroof or the rear sliding deck.
Change your zip to ones around the country, you would be surprised at the differences (I did that a while back before I bought mine)
Toyota's site is awful. Go to cars.com to build your vehicle. My dealer claims that I can order any option I want even though my zip in the site only allows convenience package and leather package as options. Sport seats, upgraded stereo, and backup camera aren't even listed, but the 4Runner I test drove Friday has all 3 options.

It has nothing to do with Toyota's site. It has to do with how the region that you are in typically orders their vehicle. If you were able to build an extremely uncommon vehicle online people would be upset when they searched the dealers and could not find what they built online. Different regions order different option/accessory packages based upon historical sales and trends.
+1 for trying to enter a different ZIP and seeing what options are available elsewhere. You can always order a vehicle from the dealer in which case you can order different options than the region typically orders, but still even when doing this, not everything is possible.

I got VERY lucky, the 1st new 4R on the lot was EXACTLY what I was looking for, with every option I wanted (see sig below). Well it had the wheel locks which I did not want, but oh well, I can deal with that
I have looked every few days to see what is within about 75 miles and yet to see it again!All 3 SR5s on the lot at my local dealer had options that one would think were not available in our zip code. It seems insane, to me, that you'd build a "loaded" 4Runner SR5 online, see an MSRP of $35355 and then go to the dealer that has 3 other options and an MSRP of $36300. An extra grand on sticker with no explaination of why you are paying more for the stereo and backup camera is surely irritating to some.
Plus, if someone is dead set on Bluetooth, they'd assume they couldn't get it in my zip code and start shopping another vehicle. Allowing you all the available to order options in your region with an " * " saying that some options may need to be special ordered makes more sense for those of us that don't just settle for what is on the lot. I don't even build Toyotas I'm interested in on their website because it is so inaccurate. In my zip, it automatically adds a package for many models which would often price it out of the value minded customer's price range.
When I built my GTI online, I was well aware that what I wanted was likely not going to be on the lot. Dealer after dealer kept trying to sell me something on the lot. I kept telling them that I wanted what I wanted and I'd order it if need be. I sorta got the runaround w/ the 3rd row seating in the 4Runner as well, saying they didn't have it in my region. I called another salesman yesterday and he recommended ordering because I can get exactly what I want. I have 2 other cars so waiting 60~90 days for the exact Runner I want, I'll do it.

That is what I recommend. I did that for my 4th gen and previous Tacoma and Tundra. Definitely worth the wait!

Are you using or do you have Microsoft Silverlight software on your pc .It asked you to install with a big red popup , but fine print at bottom says to click here for access to our alternate site.
When I was looking a couple of months back I was having problems with configuring and I had Silverlight on my pc. I called Toyota Corporate in Ca. and THEY said to remove Silverlight software and try again. Wala , completely different website and had different options , the way it should be.Worked for me at least.

:iagree: It's all up to the dealer and your sales rep. As mentioned before, some sales rep don't want to, don't know how, don't know they can, or any combination of the three.
When I bought my 4Runner, my sales rep was pissed that Build Your Toyota was showing completely different options for the RAV4 and every customer inquiring about the RAV4 was asking about non-existant configurations.
My dealer here in Arkansas (in the Gulf States Region) had the same list of options available as was on the Toyota Build Your Own site, although he told me there was no way to order a car, that they were stuck with whatever the regional distributor just happened to import (sounded fishy to me). There was one Limited showing in the region close to the way that I wanted it, so we made a deal based on that. vehicle It is a week later now and the dealer was still unable to get that car so I cancelled my deal with them and am headed to another dealer today in hopes of being able to made an actual deal, or be able to order one.
I have bought four new cars in the past 18 months and it seems like the dealers really don't want to sell them - I've never had so much trouble buying cars. (In fact I'm trying to buy two right now, the other one being a Highlander Limited - common color and options, yet only "one" showing in the region and not available for another month - again we were told that we could not order what we wanted and had to settle for second color choice - seems odd.)

So, upon closer inspection, those options that I thought "weren't available in my area" are actually bundled w/ the convenience and premium packages in my area. So, yeah, I was wrong.
Good news for me is that a white SR5 w/ black leather will probably show up to my dealer a lot sooner than 60~90 days.
