Its about that time to change the diff fluid in the 1994 3.0 SR5 4x4 4runner. I want to go with Mobil regular gear oil but they don't make it SAE 90.
The manual says " Front A.D.D SAE 75W-90 and Except A.D.D SAE 90 above 0 degress " (i in long island ny).
Then the rear says " Above 0 degress SAE 90 "
The dealer, who is very helpful and saves me alot of money, says I can use 75W-90 in both the front and rear. I want to go what the manual says.
I like Mobil but what else would you guys use? I use there high mileage motor oil and I like it. I don't want to go sythentic becuase the truck never had it in there and I don't want the thinner fluid to find its way out of it. If water and dirt can get in there, who says the gear oil can't get out?
Do i have to buy washers or anything like that when I do this?
One more thing, how do you know if I have a limted, posi, differential? If I do, do I have to add a additve for this? I know GM models you do.
