What happened in 06 and 07 to decreased the V8's towing capacity to 5,000lbs from 7,300 in the 05 models?

Just a different hitch....Non weight-distributing? Just noticed this on the Toyota Canada site browsing around there other day. I should know this, and it's probably been posted 345 times, but can't seem to find.

Yeah, weight carrying hitch can tow 5k on either v6 or v8 models. WD hitch can tow like 6.4k on v6 and 7k for v8. 2wd models can tow a bit more, I think. In '06 all v8 models came standard with WD hitch.

Interesting... no change in tow capacities on US 4Runners, at least not according to Toyota.com.

I recall in another thread, someone said there's no V8 4Runners coming in because either something to do with the rear bumper or hitch.
