I did it. Longest day

I finally traded my lifted Nissan Titan truck in for a 06 Silver 4x4 Sport 4Runner. The dealer told me that it will be ready today. The gas price is killing me with my truck. I got 8-10 mpg on my Titan because of the lift and big tires.

Hopefully, the 4runner helps me a little bit on the gas $. I have kids and live an active lifestyle so I can not have a car.

Thank you guys for the info to help me purchase my 4Runner.

I will be here more often now.:dancin:

Edit: To save $ on gas, I got the V6

Congrats on the new 4Runner! You should get at least 6-10 mpg more than the Nissan depending on which engine you purchased.

Here is pic of my beloved Titan

Congrats on your new 4runner! Remember to take a pic of it.

Your old Titan looks great with the lift! Was it reliable or as bad as i have read on Consumer Reports??

Good luck.

It is very reliable. It was the best vehicle I ever own.

I went to the dealer at lunch today and they still have not have my 4runner ready yet. It has to be transport from another dealer. The manager promised me by 8:00 PM PST today. I hope he's not b.s.ing me.

And you decided to sell it for a 4Runner? I would've kept the Titan. It looks badass.

yea right?! 8 MPG?? A lifted 4runner would look just as bad ass with that much better gas milage. (even though that truck does look pretty sweet)

Lets think about this. He claims to get 8-10 mpg with the Titan. He's probably get about 15 mpg with the 4Runner. So if he gains 6 mpg and drives an average amount of miles per year (12,000), how long will it take him to get back the money he lost by switching vehicles?

At today's gas prices, it will take him years in gas savings just to offset the money spent on switching his vehicles.

That's why I would have kept the truck. Plus, it looks badass:cool:

The Titan does look awsome , but I still would have switched . Runner is fun and more practial for his uses with the kid's and activities.....nice choice !!

im sorry i didnt see where the pride in driving a 4runner came into that equation, thats got to be worth something?!

I got a GREAT price on the trade in. The dealer paid me the same price that I paid for the Titan (stock). I took the hit on the mods. I sold most of my mods on the Titan forum site. I took the hit on tires, wheels and lift kit.

Finally...

I picked it up last night. The dealer didn't have the Silver color as they told me. They came up with a black one. I AM VERY HAPPY. Black was my first choice. I always have black cars. My last 11 cars/truck were black. I will post some pics soon.

One question. I noticed that the driver's side does not have the handle (for you to pull up) on the top (close to your head). It has the one on the pilar close to the windshield. The passenger side has one close to your head. I hope you guys know what I mean.

I have the 06 sport ed. 4x4.

yea same here on my 3rd gen, it didnt make sense to have the windshield one and not the other, youd think thered be all or none. Im sure someone on here knows why there not one by the head on the drivers side.

They don't put a handle on the driver's side. I suppose they figure you can grab the steering wheel instead, or that the handle would be one more thing for the driver to bang into in an accident.
But the holes are there so that the headliner is universal between left-hand-drive (like North America) and right-hand-drive (elsewhere). You can get a handle from the dealer and install it if you like.
And congrats on the new T4R. I agree that was a sweet Titan, but if it's not practical, life is too short to keep it. All the math in the world doesn't matter if you're not happy.

Um...okay, whatever. Let me know where this dealer is located so that I can trade my vehicle for the same price that I originally paid.

Exactly. I see a lot of people using high gas prices as an excuse to buy a different vehicle, when the truth is that they just wanted to make the change.

Of course high gas prices are a great excuse to convince yourself that you should make the change though.;):

Or think about it this way-- If he was truly happy with his Titan, high gas prices would not make him sell it. It's not a money issue, especially considering that he spent money on modding it (tires, rims and lift, just from the picture). It's just that he wasn't happy with it and wanted a change. Nothing wrong with that....but don't blame high gas prices.

I have the 06 sport ed. 4x4.

I installed it on my 2005 and my dad installed it on his 2006. It cost me around $17 for all the parts. It is an easy and quick install.

You mean that it doesn't come from the factory? I don't need it. I just want to make sure that the 4runner came from the factory that way.

Thanks,
Tyltan
