Well this thread is entertaining. You do realize how much data a camera uses to record and then that would have to be uploaded to Toyota right? There is no chance they are paying for tens of thousands of vehicles to send video to their servers. Should of just bought a used one if you were concerned about all these features. I'd be more concerned about the cell phone you carry around with you...

It's a massive amount of data... that's why Tesla waits for you to go home so they can use your WiFi connection to upload from it's 8 cameras, while you sleep.

That car has so many sensors and cameras that it would literally know if you didn't preform a full wipe that morning due to it's in-seat particle monitoring system (Note: Data may be used to grade your cars value when you trade it in)

...everyone thought they were safe buying the black interior.

The TSS doesn’t get in the way, it doesn’t force you to do anything. That’s the argument of people who don’t even know how it works. Obviously you aren’t going to crash into everything without it, and I like stirring the pot a bit, but your statement is really just misinformation.

Also aircraft have a significant number of safety features that can sometimes be a nuisance and inhibit weapons employments, but also have good reasons for being there. Most procedures and systems are written in blood. That’s why its a shame engineers can develop all these safety features that do save lives, yet people who have no understanding about them run around yelling how evil and problematic they are. If you never need it that’s GOOD. The point isnt to rely on them. It’s for the “oh shit” situation.

I don’t think it is fool proof, nor would I trust a computer not being monitored by someone. I was partly stirring the pot, but also I am a fan of safety equipment. It’s not the primary system you should rely on, but it’s good to have if needed.

sure, if they are being used that way. but, people are stupid. and these "safety" features aren't making that problem better.
they drive relying on and KNOWING the car will do it for them. drivers are getting worse because of these systems, not better.

I remember a few guys died last year due to watching a movie while their Tesla was driving. All were crushed to death from the Tesla slamming into shit. The Tesla corp realized that the car was getting the back of 18 wheeler containers confused with billboard signs.

Lmaoooo...so true and if you are concern about a computer stopping or starting your car and watching you better buy an older vehicle. Nannies are not going away time soon and just learn to live with it. Getting your vehicle hacked which isn't easy to do but has been done by criminals should be your bigger concern. Ford trucks remote key entries have been hacked some manufacturers have had their trunks hacked and drugs placed in them. Only to have the owner arrested for drug smuggling when the driver was pulled over not aware of the drugs in their car at the border crossing.

Auto pilot and auto land have been in use for years.

FWIW, Toyota keeps your location and driving data for up to 20 years!

iPhones keep a list of where you have been in a submenu.

Correct, the PCS/ TSS has nothing to record. However, the EDR does.

Yes it's massive. The entire data path of the car is it's own network now. To roll down your window the smart window switch, sends a request to a CPU (somewhere) and the CPU sends a packet to the motor.

This is how we did it my day, before Big Brother was real.

This just so happens to be a really interesting example of that. This is just from the data Tectonix collects from smart phones.

Yeah I’m not that worried about that data honestly. It’s probably really useful to Toyota’s engineers and I don’t feel it compromises me for them to have it. And they’ll only get it in the event I get in a wreck, which I hopefully won’t have. *knock on wood*
