Lately, I been thinking even more about it.

I had a headache from this.

Yesterday, the runner rolled over to 200k miles and I was thinking about the maintenance that needs to be done to it.

I have a po420 but so far the code hasn't came back yet. However though, next year I be due for another smog check. So thats about $1600 for the cat, the shocks needs to be redone.

I had the same shock since I had the runner when It was new, same with the brakes, water pump, timing belt, serpentine belt and a tune up.

The rough estimate I got is about $4000 to fix all that and who knows whats going to happen.

My tranny could go out or something else.

I was thinking about ditching it for the a4 or an Is.

$4000 could be half the down payment for the a4.

Guys, What should I do?

I have the exact same truck but with 117K. I cured my P0420 with a rear O2 sensor (I had done the front at 80K for a P1171 I think it was). Have you done both sensors? A whole lot cheaper.

I also just finished my timing belt, water pump, 3 accessory belts (no serpentine on this truck) and coolant flush. Two afternoons (one of them a Longgggg afternoon) and $300 or so in parts.

That leaves the brakes--and you don't tell us enough to know what you need. But I'm thinking it could be a whole lot less than $4000 to keep your truck rolling. I think you need some better diagnostics before you make a decision (unless you've done them and not mentioned it).

drive out to virginia and my mechanic will do your p420 for $400 with a new oem cat!

P0420 is the air/fuel sensor. I got mine off of eBay for 60 shipped. It was oem too so maybe you should check there and the water pump and tb should be able to be done for about 500 or so. That's about what the dealership quoted me to do mine. $4000 seems steep for what you have said.

Whats the price of rear o2 sensor ?

My suspension had been the same since the day it was drove off the lot with 5 miles on the odometer.

I know the brakes needs to be re done, cause the pads are the same original ones that came with it.

The water pump or the fuel filter had not been changed the day we brought it.

Or the timing belt..

Would you say go for an Is250 instead of the a4 quattro?

Cause I'm running out of ideas,

Mercedez has the c class, Infinity has the G35 and G37. Audi has the a4, Bmw has the 3 series and Lexus has the Is250,Is300 and Is350.

Out of them all, the a4 and Is stood out the most.

What should I do?

Audi's are nice cars, but owning one takes lots o $$$! if you have the $$$ to support owning one the hell yea buy one. I would trust the reliability of a toyota manufactured car instead!
