I think its ridiculous to try and hide in today's world, you just can't really do it effectively... think of it this way, now matter what you do there is always going to be some piece of data that burns you in the end. You can try and scrub everything, but there are always records of changes, data snipets, packets of information that never get erased.
Most data systems I am aware of don't actually destroy data, they simply mark it as replaceable; if the system ever gets around to replacing that particular file location. I managed to delete the pictures on S4's internal memory and was trying to recover it the other day and found something somewhat surprising. The 2GB micro-SD card I have used since I had my S1 had pictures I took YEARS ago that I had deleted, in the following years of more pictures, data, app downloads, app information storage, ect the operating system never wrote over the old data (its "deleted" because the OS has marked the files to be written over should it need the space), now imagine how many computer systems and data servers out there might still have snipets of your personal information that just never got written over, even though you THOUGHT you deleted your files and information; not including the data that's been filtered and flagged through multiple government's databases (you think the US is the only one to have Person of Interest style systems?)

Perhaps the best way to hide is to not hide at all...
