I finally did it...

Hey all,

I finally made the purchase. After looking for months I found the 4runner that I was looking for. I bought a 01 Silver 2x4 SR5 4runner. It has 69,000 miles and I bought it for 14,600, did I pay the right price? It is AWESOME!!

I have a couple of questions about the truck. It says that it is a SR5 but it has the gold package (with all the gold toyota lettering) and the hood scoop and the fender flares, sun roof. Is it a Sport edition? I know that it is a very dumb question, but you all would be the ones to ask! What is the "ETC" button for?

Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase!

Cant help you with your questions but as a new convert to the 4runner, i share in your enthusiasm.

congrats

If you have the hood scoop, then you have the Sport Edition. It should say that across the driver and passenger doors. The Sport Edition is an SR5 with the sport package so you technically have an SR5. I don't have the same year truck as you so I don't know what the ETC button does.

Oh, and congrats on the new purchase. Where are the pictures? Good luck with it!

You're thinking of the "ECT " button I believe....the one that says "PWR" and "NORM"

ECT = Electronically Controlled Transmission, and PWR and NORM are its 2 modes. The NORM mode should give you slightly smoother shifts and slightly better fuel economy. The PWR mode shifts more firmly, and at a higher RPM, letting you get a bit more power when you're givin' er.

When you're in the PWR mode, a green light is displayed in the gauge cluster.

Good luck with the new rig :)

Thanks all! I gues have the "sports Edition" SR5. Pics will be up by next weekend. However, it doesn't say it across the side of the doors?? Oh well.

The "Sport Edition" badge was a new feature on the 2002, along with a skid plate, so you're not missing anything on your '01.

Looks good...sounds like a good price too.
