this is for all of you who are unsatisfied with your 2003 jbl 10 speaker system. Im not sure if a thread has been posted yet, but i keep checking to see if someone else has done their system this way, but have yet to find anyone. SOOOO ill start one myself. I added a sub and 2 12" subs and it is working great. I tried adding all my new stuff after the stock amp, and ended up blowing the 2 12"s, so i had to go buy new and figure out how to set it up. After doing a little wiring research, i tapped into the L and R + and - before it gets to the amp. just for kicks I put in 2 8" subs and it drained the power compleltly. the stock JBL HU is not capable of powering speakers on its own, hence the amp that comes built in. I then wired my amp in and ran the 2 12"s through it. results were AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have a kick ass high and low sound with incredible mids. i never thought i would get such a sound. all for under $300. im working on a custom box right now, hopefully i can get even more of a sound with that.... good luck with everyone who reads this and tries it. if you have any questions, feel free to ask

heres better directions.... pull up the cover under the rear passenger door to expose all the wires. they will all be covered under a big black shield. uncover the wires (there will be many). you will find a big grey cable. it is the wires that run to the stock amp. pull the shield back and tap into those wires for your new amp. make sure to cover it well because there is an unshielded wire in there that cant be exposed to the elements.

not to sound like a jerk, but you didn't really discover anything. Tapping into the + and - speaker wires from the radio is just doing a high-level input into the amp, and you should have known that the factory radio couldn't push a sub, it could only act as a signal to an aftermarket amp.
