I gave my 4runner away and got this

As promised to my son 7 yrs ago that I will give him the 4runner. The time has came. He passed his written test and will get his driving test in 3 months. That is a scary thought.

I got the 98 SC400 as a daily driver to replace my 4runner. Actually, I gave him a choice between the SC400 and the 4runner and he chose the 4runner. For the first couple months, he will drive/test drive the SC400 because the 4runner is lifted and might be too high for him.

In the last picture, not too long ago, he tried to dig the truck out of the sand. Now it's his. :happy:

Style wise, I prefer the IS 300 over the SC 400, although you definitely got a nice color and nice interior and in good shape for a 98.

The 2JZ-GE I6 engine in there is pretty nice. Do you have any plans to convert it to a 2JZ-GTE or Turbo it?

oooo, the old nakamichi head units. sadly the only thing they made good was cassette decks and fell out of favor after the 90's.

otherwise those are nice 2nd hand cars and it looks like it was kept up nice interior wise.

Spoiled, I tell you! My 16 year old has to make due with the '89 shown below. He starts behind the wheel next week and then he will have the license. His sister is eligible for her learner's at the end of this month. It's an exciting but expensive time.

I think he paid his due. Straight "A" since 6th grade (10th now) and in basketball team. He has 3 honor classes (Chemistry, Biology, English) and in ASB. He starts school 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. He has a DJ job (good one too). He got booked every weekend but my wife and I only allow him to do 2 "gigs" a month and only on the weekend. He took responsibility on his end. I've to full fill my promised to him.

I was kidding about "spoiled." You don't have to defend your choices to anyone. Your son sounds like a fantastic kid. I offered the airbag equipped 2000 to mine but he wants the cool old one. It's so exciting to see these kids become young adults and accomplish so much. I like your Lexus. They drive great.

No offense taken. :tea: You were not the only said that. Many of my friends said that too. I just wanted my kids to have better car than I did before. I just wanted to do father's part which making sure that my kids have a better life than I did.

No girl. I only have 2 boys. I am happy that I don't have a girl because she will have me wrap around her finger.

I had at one point a Nakamichi Dragon, the pinnacle of cassette decks. I made so many tapes for local bands pre DAT days. The mechanical integrity that machine possessed was amazing, like your Lexus has.

My first car was 1979 rabbit. I bought it for $900 in 1987. It broke down at least 10 times in two months. I sold it for $200 because it wasn't running and I didn't have money to fix it

But seriously though, nice SC with quite an interesting color. Was an original paint? I remember seeing Cressidas and Camrys in that baby blue metallic, just not many Lexus cars for some reason.

Yes, It was original paint and color. The interior was 9/10. Everything stock.

I love the layout of that engine. The little cutout for the low pressure A/C port is just genius.

The one caveat to it IMHO is the long return pressure hose for the power steering. My friend's aunt had this exact car in black. The hose began to leak at the pump, so it may be one of those hoses you replace down the road. But with 254,000 miles on it, so it was.

Flush that brake fluid and enjoy.
