I got a nod and a wave ..... wow

Driving locally I pull up next to another guy with a Galactic Gray 4R (guessing 04/05) guy about in his 50's , waves , checks out my truck , gives me the cool vehicle nod.

It is cool to get the nod... I give and recieve the nod occasionally too. Where I am the vast majority of T4R's are 2wd and if someone has a cleaned up 4wd or mine is clean I will exchange 'the nod' with another T4R 4wd.

wow indeed! i cant imagine getting one from another 4r owner as most are 40+ and women around here.
the other day though on i95 a new body style taco on some 33's rolled up next to me and I looked and was gonna give a thumbs up, but the 'sshole never looked over, too cool i guess!

I used to try and get other T4Rs to wave but I have pretty much given up now. Since I have the offroad style going on I find that I get many more waves, smiles and nods from Jeeps and the like. Especially when I'm covered in mud.

I agree it is kinda of a good 'wow-the-world-can-be-a-nice-place' sort of feeling when someone waves back.

But I've yet to get a return wave in the 4Runner. When I drive my dad's Jeep, it almost feels required to wave.

:iagree: Say what you will about Jeeps & Harleys... They are both excellent textbook case studies on branding. When was the last time you saw Harley riders NOT wave at each other?

I have thought (very briefly) about how much fun a Jeep would be because of the clubs, camaraderie etc, nothing to do with the vehicle itself.

I agree, the branding is excellent for the Jeep and Harley's.

Maybe, for the jeeps, it's like that because of why people buy jeeps. But with the 4Runners, you've got soccer mom's (and dad's) driving them around who probably don't think twice about waving at the tricked out core looking 4Runner passing them on the other side of the road.

:bigok: Yet more accurate testimony as to how cool the T4R is; it's appeal is far more unversal than almost any other, high volume SUV. Yes, Thai's G500 rocks but in terms of #'s on the road it's low. The off-road guys like them, the boat towing guys like them and the soccer Moms like them... Sounds like it should win a versatility award.



The standards in the true SUV world, IMHO, are the Suburban in the large vehicle class and then it's split between the Jeep GC and the T4R. We all know what we think of Jeep durability/reliability:bash:



I hope the 5th gen is as much of a winner as the 4th

On a side note, I got commented by other 4Runner owners in parking lots saying "nice truck" when they approach their 4Runner that's parked near by.

I have given a few fellow 4Runner owners the nod and wave on the streets of NY/NJ. I love when that happens. Unfortunately, I get a lot of blank stares or no looks when I pull up to a fellow 4Runner!

Haha I get those too! one time this hot little college cutie pulled up next to me next to campus. I swear I was checking out her 4Runner, but I think she thought I was checking her out. I got a reaction but it certainly wasn't a wave :bigok:

I've got so many waves, nods, peace signs, you name it, I've gotten it. Most people will come up to me and compliment my ride and just start asking me questions about it. It's pretty awesome.

I get my share of birds due to my driving style. I don't know why but people don't seem to appreciate a Toy oval emblem in their rear view mirror.

There's only one Jeep, and there's no waving in a T4R.

I get waves and the like after they seem to be figuring out the T4R stickers in the side rear windows. I have not seen our stickers in S. OR at all. I am still looking to build a T4R licence frame.

I have never once got the nod or wave while driving in any car. On my bike I get the nod, the wave, the thumb up, the titties (usually on the highway), wheelie motions from little kids (usually driving around town).

Harley riders are arrogant asses IMO. I try to wave to everyone on a bike unless I'm leaned over or not comfortable taking my hands off the bars. Maybe 20% of the Harley riders wave back, none of the "badass" Harley riders (leather vest and brain bucket) wave.
