I got a sunroof problem...

My sunroof is stuck closed, normally this wouldn't bother me too much but I noticed when it rains that the headliner gets a bit moist so I figure the sunroof drain is clogged. I want to fix it bit the sunroof is not working so I can't just open it and clean out the drain hole. How do I manually open the sunrood to repair this? And better yet, how do I fix the sunroof?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

isnt there a sort of "square keyhole" behind the map reading lights that allows you to crank the sunroof gear...i think the owners manual shows it

Take an air nozzle (compressed air) and blow you drain tubes from the bottom of the car out.

Easier then fixing the sun roof.

There is a manual way to open them. I think the key is usually with the spare tire tools in the pouch

i will check into it tomorrow but i think the only thing you can do is drop the headliner down in the front an remove the glass and track assy? or use your spare tire tools ie. a lug wrench and smash it? jk

On the pre-3rd gens, this was an option. They did away with this for ours though.

oops sorry I didn't know that...as for the tubes I know ive seen them snaking down the A pillar.

There are 4 drain tubes. they are located on the four corners of the truck. The rear ones are easy to find. one tube is directly above the muffler exist. It is about a 1/2" diameter tube that hangs about 1" below the floor pan.

There will be a corresponding tube on the other side.

The front tubes drain into the rocker panel and is not accessible from the outside. the good news is that they are probably not clogged up. I guess you really never mentioned what side the headliner was getting wet on but that would be then side to work on first.

If you need to access the front tubes, you will have remove the kick panels and service the tubes that way.

Bringing this back as I always find specific threads valuable and perhaps this will help someone else.

My sunroof got stuck open today. I don't use it on a regular basis and of course today was nice here in FL. So open it went and closed it wouldn't.

I could hear the relays clicking on the switch, so I knew that was probably good. I tried to jump a few wires and blew the dome light fuse a couple times. I ended up just tapping the motor with a small tack hammer while powering it closed. This "loosened" up the motor enough to get it shut.

Hopefully this might help someone with a stuck open sunroof get it at least closed. -E
