As I grow older I like "mudding" less but I admit I love all forms of off road even mud.
I drive my 4Runner to MY JOB every day.
MY WIFE likes to watch me work on my 4Runner because she thinks it's sexy. The truck, I mean.
I want to take my running boards off but MY CHILDREN use them to get in and out.
Post up your story or reason of why you hate mud.
No this is not in relation to the IH8MUD forum. Anyway, heres the story. I went with some buddies to the lake over the weekend. I got a little dirty and said to the hell with it, might as well go mud din. We went through some trails and a couple mud holes. Truck performed great and we didn't get stuck once. Long story short, I was cleaning the truck today and I discover that my passenger headlight has a good amount of moisture in it, along with some mud. Both clear turn signal housings have a decent amount of liquid in them, along with the running lights. Im pretty sure I can fix the turns and running lights by my self, but I'm afraid that I will have to buy a new headlight assembly. Anyway, I am very frustrated by this fact. Just wanted to share this with anyone that is considering mudding. Don't do it.
Exactly! Its hard to relate sometimes. But we all learn from our experiences, and one things obvious, stay away from mud. It will **** you up. :redbrick:
I did it tonight. And while I had it apart, I painted part of the housing. Ill have to show you next meet up.hahaha that turned out to be one interesting night.
As far as mud, I'm still cleaning some up from a month ago when I told a certain SOMEONE it probably wasn't a good idea to go wheeling in the rain. lol
For the lights, I have my original amber corners if you need them. Plastic lenses can still be baked, you just need to use a low temp and proper sealant. For something as small as the clear corners, you could probably use a heat gun as well. As far as the headlights, if you decide to bake them and need some help let me know.
Wow, didn't realize that. But I actually can relate to most those people. Its the older generation who talks about family trips and such that i cannot relate to.There are a lot more teens/early 20's on here than you realize, Me, COB, Ripcord, T4r4life, Bak3rme, Clemsonfan, 4runner8 to name a few...
MUD SUCKS
This is in my build thread, but I want to be part of this thread, too

^^ note the time, 5:31AM ^^
Going up a usual trail, St. Patricks Day night (I promise we weren't drunk) during a very unusual Southern California rainstorm. The Dirt turned into thick soupy death, mixed with gravity which slid me into a ditch.

6 and a half hours of digging with small shovels, my friend and I practically remodeled the hill. The mud was too much, though, and the tires just squashed it out of the way. With no rocks, trees, or anything to put under the tires, it was time to get my friend Jay (driffter33) on the line.
He rides on down with his truck, hooks me up with his winch and literally pivots me all the way around.

Jay gets me all the way around to where I can use the truck's own power to move. Too bad, I ran out of gas... lol, to SHELL!

Yes, that's my skidplateIt had 2 front bolts, 2 middle bolts, and no back bolts. The back bolts didn't fit with after the diff drop, yet another fault of this skid. Back turned into a mudcatcher and bent it down, took it off and threw it under the tires for traction.

Haha, I didn't mean it that way. I only meant the other generations besides the teenager generation (20 and up). Dont worry im not calling you old! :boxer:Older generation??? Ouch. :flipoff:
I'm only 35, but I feel young. And I've had my 4Runner since I was 23.
Haha, agreed mudding is fun. But I get the same excitement from non-mud offroading. It just gets in ever single crevice in your truck and is impossible to clean!mud is FUN! who are you all kiddin lol yeah it sucks to clean off after but you know dam well its fun getting muddy! G3T MUDY!!!!
but after wheelin' at Rausch....the rocks are my new love
here's a muddy shot the morning after a looooong night!
