I hate to do a lift advice thread but...

After 11 years, 80k miles, 4 money pit houses, another kid, a divorce, mid-life crisis, and some other things I am finally up to date on maintenance and ready for a proper lift . I'm familiar with the options but still cant really decide.

Right now I have 99 coils + tokico 4runner shocks in the front and bilstien tundra 5100 + OME 906 in the rear. Stock wheels with newish 265/75/16 KO2 tires. It has extended braided stainless brake hoses front and rear already. It has the tow bar, spare tire and usually a 50lb bike rack. I want to have at least an ARB front bumper and sliders soon.

I would like to get 285/75/16 and new wheels after the 265 KO2s wear out. It takes me 8 hours to get anywhere fun so I would like an "overland" durability/simplicity setup, but still some look cool factor for the hours I've put in to it and be able to handle some CO trails. It's my daily driver so mostly on pavement but quite a lot of dusty gravel, dirt, minimum maintenance and washboard roads.

I am planning on the bilstein 6112 up front set at 2.3", diff drop, OME 890 + bilstein 5160 at ~3" (supposed to become available next month) in the rear. I like the volume of oil these shocks have, and the price of course. I like a bit of rake too.

Do you think this would holdover well to 285/75/16, lower offset wheels and UCAs in a few years? Should I be considering something else? Thanks!

Not to sound biased, but sounds like you need the BOSS performance kit - BOSS Lift Kit for '96-'02 4Runner

With your long hauls to remote places, reservoirs are a perfect option for you. In my opinion the BOSS shocks are smoother than Bilsteins

The non-resovoir boss or ultimate kit was the other thing I was considering. How does the boss reservoirs do on washboard corrugations? The way it is now it fishtails and rattles a bunch although it's far better than it was with stock suspension. I know much comes down to tire pressure, speed and the like. I'm not going to be spending hours at a time on washboard but a few miles here and there. They are all over the place around here.

Boss with or without resi's aren't amazing on washboards at high speeds.
You'd look at ICON or KING for that.

With more lift comes more parts to replace. Im going through this right now by replacing my CV axles and installing new All-Pro Upper control arms to fix alignment issues. Also lower balljoints becausing having my tire fall off in traffic is not something i want to experience.

I have the Toytec coil over kit on Bilsteins in the front and FJ coils on Bilsteins in the rear. Its a "bouncier" ride that factory and hopefully with the alignment fixed up front, better all-round, but don't think that throwing on a set of struts, coils and shocks with bigger tires is all there is too it.

I already replaced the LBJs and rebooted the CVs. I've replaced/refreshed basically everything that's why it's taken so long. It drives really nice but I'm getting tired of the braking nose dive and the washboard issue, and want to add a bumper. I think all I'd need is UCAs, bump stops and a trac bar or bracket. But those aren't cheap. This is probably the worse analysis paralysis I've ever had.

A very honest response from Toytec. I respect their reply, and it echoes what others have said about the Boss shocks.

Thanks for the straightforward reply. And from what I've been reading the bilstein resi are not designed for it either and even failing, something to do with the twin tube allowing for higher temps to buildup from that type of thing and damaging it. That's what I suspected about icons/king but don't want to stretch to that price range.
