i just got a ticket going 113

yea sunday night i was trying to get home very fast in my 4runner and floored it got stopped going 113 on the interstate im only 15 hopefully my license wont be taken away anyone else ever got stopped in that high of a speed so i have a idea about what i can expect to happen
and this happened in mississippi

I don't mean to alarm you, but (in VA atleast) if you are caught going 113, your license will not only be taken for a LONG time but you face the possibility of jail time.

(you are lucky you weren't arrested on spot)

btw, I was clocked going 65 in a 35 (got taken away though in court after traffic court), a friend was clocked going 60 in a 35 on another road, license was taken away for 3 months due to another ticket and another friend had 1 ticket, 80 in a 45, license taken for 3 months.

I also have a friend that was clocked going 99 in a 55 in his dads corvette however since the cop clocked him through another car, he received a warning.

One friend was in his SRT-4, was going 140 in the shoulder, got into an accident farther down the road (had slowed to around 90) with a tractor trailer, received 6 tickets in one night. All of them were taken away in court due to the main witness and the cop not showing up.

Not to be harsh, but driving 113 mph on any public road is just plain stupid much less in an SUV. Consider this your wakeup call and learn from it. You're not indestructible nor are the other people you might kill someday. Juries have little sympathy for that sort of thing.

Yes, I used to be stupid too. Some days, I still am but at a much slower rate of speed. Please be careful. Good luck.

Yep, consider yourself lucky for not being hauled to jail on the spot. Anything over 100mph is mandatory arrest in most states.

YOu need more to lose more than your license.

There was absolutely no reason at all to endanger the lives of countless people on the highway by your reckless driving. 113 mph! Just because you needed to get home fast?

How many people would you have killed if you had lost control and slammed into the rear of a minivan full of kids and their mother coming back from a movie? Have you thought about how many times your SUV would have flipped, probably going into the on-coming lane, killing other people because of your decision?

We were all stupid once but there is being stupid where the only person at risk is ourselves and being recklessly stupid that endangered the lives of others who did not ask to be in your way.

I hope you lose more than your license because that is better than a family putting flowers on the grave of their dead mother or dead child; dead becasue of you. Family members who could not even see them last time at their service becuase the injuires and resulting fire forced a closed casket service.

I'm glad I don't live in Miss. if they let 15 year olds drive without supervision in the car.

In my opinion you should lose your eligibilty to drive for a few years and be charged with a crime. That is as bad as drunk driving if not worse.

I would surely hate to have a tire blow out going that fast. I don't think SUV owners realize how dangerous it can be. High center of gravity + tire blow out = disaster!

Are you allowed to drive in MS at the age of 15 without adult supervision? I think here in FL I remember getting a learner's permit at 15 but I had to have an adult with me until I got the real license at 16.

I think if I were in your shoes I'd admit my stupidity and willingly accept responsibility for the dumb behavior, then hopefully if you find yourself in front of a judge they might be lenient. It will probably be a very expensive lesson to drive more carefully (assuming they let you keep your license which I doubt they will) , but be grateful that the lesson came with no physical harm to yourself or anyone else. I'd also get a lawyer, preferably one who contributed to the last reelection campaign of your judge

Yep, in Louisiana and Mississippi you are allowed to drive at age 15....but not between the hours of 11pm and 5am as I remember it from years back. This tradition has been allowed to carry on from the old farming days era..(ie cotton baskets and/or sugar cane wagons driven off the farm fields by early teens.) As a matter of fact, you are allow to drive farm equipment as young as 12 or 13 along the shoulder of roads in some farming areas. I only thought the 4Runner limiter went to 109 mph in the states. It must've been that youthfulness and lightweight that spurred on the extra 4 mph. I suspect that you will get a good tongue lashing from your parents. Your parents and you WILL feel the raft from the judge because they are legally liable and/or responsible for your driving actions. Good luck young buck!

I feel sorry for your parents because even if you still will be insured it will be $$$,

Perhaps the parents will haev the backbone to do something more than tongue lashing. But my expereince has been that most parents today will fight tooth and nail to "protect" their little ankle biter. They will go to juvenile court, demand a full hearing, hire expensive lawyers or demadn a public defender to subpoena the cop's records, trying to prove speed trap, faulty radar gun, file motions to discredit the cop by going into his personnel files to show he hates kids or is biased or had complaints filed against him. Then when all else fails and the judge finds the little monster guilty, start hiring psychiatrists to show that he needs treatment and counseling and nothing more than a 100 word essay. Everything except that their kid did something that harmed another perosn.

I have to wonder about parents who let thier 15 year old take off in a SUV? Did they buy it for little snookums? How nice. Buy thei kids affections....tells me what kind of parents they are. Or do they not care cuz little snookums can do no wrong.....no siree...little snookums did not take the car to a friend's house where they smoke pot, do drugs, engage in drunken sex with other minors, steal, break into other people's homes, sell drugs, etc.

I am harsh here because innocent people could have easily died....and those in law enforcement have seen enough of kids and speed and irresponsible parents. I hope his parents will teach him a lesson that this is not a "hahaahha funny you a ticket" joke. I hope his parents will treat this as a lesson instead of something to fight those awful police and prosecutors.

Hope you find on this board that some peole did not think this was a joke or that this was sometehing to laugh about but that it could have been tragic.

for my 65 in a 35 that i got, it was something like $75 for 10 mph over or so and then it became $5 for every mile per hour over that, my ticket would have been about $300 and some change if it didn't get thrown out. Also, I think some of you are being a bit harsh when you are bashing him for having a 4runner at the age of 15. You should not insult someone because of something their parents choose to do with their money.
