I just bought those last week, they were on sale for $9.99 each! I just couldn't pass it up, I like them, and for the money they are great IMO. I wouldn't buy bulbs for them, if you are going to do that, just buy better lights to start with.

You can spend 30 bucks on 2 crap lights or 60 on two good lights (Hella 500). The Hellas should come with a relay and switch too.

so i was looking to mount some lights on my brush guard, over at harbor freight i found these :

- Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

thats like 30 bucks for 2 of them..which is cheap

however i know the quality will SUCK! but i was wondering if i could buy some better bulbs and put them in to replace the stock bulbs

I just bought 130 watt bulbs for my Hella 500's. I bought mine at a local off road store. Easy swap.

ya dude they sell these at walmart also but ya so they would work but arent great unless ur running 100w bulbs in them. My friend bought these and had to do that to match my 55w lights i bought at autozone that look exactly like PIAAs for only 40/pair.

I guess I like my $22 crap lights, sometimes good enough is good enough ya know? And the rocker switch I got at Pep Boys for like $3.99. They fit my situation and use, I will probably only use the lights a couple of times a month for camping and what not. And lets be honest here, they look cool, so why spend more than you have to for looks, I could always pick of a pair of KC light covers or Hella light covers and no one would know the difference. :)

jsmarine...i like ur thinkin, i guess i gotta go cheap for this one. They have a huge yearly sale at Harbor freight this week or so, so im going to go grab a pair b4 its too late.

and can you explain how you wired them up? with the switch and all? also...will it be a switch so i can turn them on whenever i want? or do they only come on when highbeams are on or something like that...

prob gunna paint mine black.

I can probably take pics tomorrow for you, I will be working on my new winch bumper anyways. But the lights are easy to wire up. The lights come with a wiring diagram.

Just route the wires from the switch under the dash and through the grommet on the left side above the foot rest, you'll see it. Then run the power wire (usually red) to the battery and both of the lights, the ground wire on the lights (should be black, or black stripe) you just attach in a convenient (but out of the way) location on the chassis or bumper (anything non painted, has to be bare metal). If you get a lighted switch it will also have a ground wire which I attached to the metal bracket that holds the plastic panel on below the steering wheel.

**EDIT**

You can buy the wire ( its cheap) and the rocker switch (or whatever kind of switch you want) from Pep Boys. If you need help, just tell one of the parts guys what you are doing and they can help find what you need. You can also put a fuse in line too on the power wire, again ask Pep Boys, its easy stuff trust me. Once you do it, you will see.

did you buy those round ones at harbor? I looked at them two days ago but was not very impressed. got me a 4ton bottle jack instead...with an expired coupon.

I didn't buy the lights, wanted to, wished I had and like was said they were $9.99 and I had a 20% off coupon in my pocket. Will get them later on when they go on sale again (I have another 20% off coupon). I got the 25 inch breaker bar instead this time. I won't use it to really crank on something to get it loose but will work for medium duty work.

yea harbor freight has its yearly sale around this time, so basically its a huge sale, and you have lots of coupons. however quality isnt as good as i want. but just for looks, the lights are at a good price....9.99 for each...so 20.00 for both, 20% off thats 4 bucks..so around 16-17ish for set of lights

Got me a set of cheap-o's

So walking around wally world this evening, I noticed they had some Platinum Burners on the shelf for about 20 bucks. Sitting here, they are wired up already in less than 2 minutes and should be on the truck within the next two days. I will post photos then.

the lights are on

Ok, after just about an hour total the lights are on and look good. For a wally world special I cannot complain. You can go to my photo page and check out the with and withouts.
