I need a GOOD 5/32 Masonry Drill Bit

I already bought one at Home Depot, and I got about an 1/2 inch into the brick before it dulled itself out. Returned it, and looked around but nothing except what I already bought. Sears sells bits, but only certain sizes and not the one I need. Contacted my father-inlaw and he says to get a Diamond cut or tip: costly but worth it. At this point I don't care if I have to pay $10 for a bit. I just want three things: a bit that does not dull itself out right after I begin the first hole, a bit that will last for the 3 holes, and a place to buy it on the net for I am sick of driving around for this.

Size needed: 5/32
Drilling into fireplace red brick:
How many holes: 3
Depth: 1.5 to 2inches deep

Also, suggestions on how I should approach drilling into brick is welcome.

Right drill bit, wrong drill??

You are using a carbide tipped masonry drill bit I assume? If so, then are you also using a hammer drill? A hammer drill has a mechanisim which rapidly hammers the drill in and out of the hole while you are drilling. It is a very small amount of movement and the drill itself will buzz/vibrate loudly while drilling. Lot's of dust!!

If you are simply using a standard drill, it doesn't have the hammer impact for breaking the masonry and clearing the hole. So your drill bit will only heat up FAST and dull very quickly and lose it's edge. If it's a carbide tipped drill bit, they can only be resharpened using a diamond coated sharpening wheel . You could use a diamond hone, but it takes forever to sharpen carbide with a hone.
