Hello all,
This is my first posting and I like to request some help in finding a fair value for a prospective 4Runner I'm thinking about buying locally.

1985 4runner 22RE 5-speed

300,000 on body, Engine rebuilt 100,000 miles ago, assuming with new clutch too.

3in lift Old Man Emu

4.38 gears

Rear Auto Locker

31in tires (worn out)

New radiator, water pump, timing chain

A/C

Newer Interior

not SR5, but has SR5 seats. no power windows/locks... the back sliding window works.

paint is rough, but I don't see much rust at all. The body looks decent.
exhaust is somewhat rusty with maybe a small leak near the muffler

Thanks much. Any help is appreciated.

Alex

1st off, where are you, makes a big difference.

Here in the mid-Atlantic, $500 to 1000 at the very most if it was super cherry. In the PNW add a couple grand.

Just because you see no rust means nothing. 80's Toys are infamous for rust (that means not good). The frames rust from the inside out, so when you can see it, it's really bad.

If you're in the SW U.S., never mind, rust isn't an issue.

Thanks for replying! much appreciated. I've always loved 4runners and owned a '97. I've always wanted a classic though, but don't know a whole lot about them yet.

I'm in Denver, CO. He's asking $3300, which I thought sounded like a lot, but then again I thought maybe the '85s were valuable because it's the only year for solid front axle and fuel injection.
The truck seems solid, but it's hard to say with my untrained eye. Bringing it to a mechanic for an inspection might be a good move eh?

BTW, nice looking rig you got there.

I'd offer him 2500 and see if he takes. Just look inside the frame where some of the openings/holes and if it looks ok I'd snag it. Looks better then my runner
