i need help with a swap please .

hey every body i have a 92 4 runner which had a blown 3ltr and a buggered auto tranny . i bought a 89 4 runner for its 22 re engine and 5 speed tranny . the engine and tranny is in and im in the process of making the changes . but im having an issue with electrical .
the ecm and harness from the 89 will not fit the interior of the 92 .. i need to know if any one can help me here . thanks .

i cant beleive that there is no one out there that hasnt done this .

What sort of help are you looking for? I'm no mechanic, but even I could tell you that the 3.0 harness and ECM weren't going to work. You're goign to need a new harness and computer, and you'd probably do well to get that harness from a 2nd gen truck with manual and a 22re so that you don't have to do much retrofitting.

Personally, I would have just driven the '89, but it's your show, man.

I agree with above. Your going to need the wiring and ECM for a 22re. Did the motor mounts line up? I thought those had to be changed also.

i have the wiring harness and the ecu and i still have the donor .. but what i need to know is do i need to keep the harness from the inside of the 89 4 runner . the one under the dash . engine mounts and tranny mounts . no biggy . the eletrical is where i need to here what i need to have . can i splice into the 92 dash harness with the 89 engine harness and ecu ???. is there a sticky note that will help me and where do i find these sticky notes . thanks .

well im going have to take a better look . it is just when i disconnected the 89 it was only three plugs to the ecu and two plugs to the body . and the 92 has three plugs to the ecu and four plugs to the body . this is where im having the issue .

You're probably not going to find a lot of information on what you're doing. You're kind of a pioneer here. Most people with the 3.0 will upgrade to the 3.4 motor if they're doing an engine swap.

I would head over to the motor swap section on yotatech and get some help there.
