I Need More Dirt In Nj!!!!!!!!

Im from Wyoming and am used to awesome trails being everywhere and so close they are pretty much in your back yard..... and sometimes they are. Well now I am stationed in NJ at Mcguire AFB and have been desperately looking for some decent trails. I am more than willing to make a drive to something that is going to be worth it. I have only been to a few spots where the hummers cruize around out by the atillary ranges.... and they suck! But it is getting pretty bad.... I see dirt and get tunnel vision and head right for it. The worst thing is that it is usually a quick dead in. My Runner and I are starting to go through withdrawls. Anybody that knows of anything around... when I say around I mean anything within 150 miles. SO PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! I have seen alot of jersey guys on here, so hopefully you can tell of a few spots

If I recall, there are some decent trails in eastern/notheastern PA and proabably about a 2 hour ride from where you are.

Years ago I used to go 3-wheel biking in the dunes of Cape May. I don't know if they still let people in there with motorized vehicles or not. That would be about an hour down the parkway.

I think you're going to find it slim pickings anywhere in the northeastern U.S. in comparison to the western U.S.

The northeast is very much under the lock of the Democratic party, and the environmental whack jobs that come with that party, and they've pretty much outlawed off-roading. There is a private offroad park in PA ( http://www.paragonap.com/ ) but it looks like they've been shut down for some reason.

Back in 2000, when I had purchased my Tacoma, I was in the NY division of TTORA (Tacoma Territory Off Road Association), but the chapter has since closed, in part due to lack of any place to go around here.

My suggestion: Move back out west.

I thought about over there on the shore but sand isnt really what Im looking for. Definitely right about PA though. I know there has to be spots all over out there but i guess what I am really looking for is specifics and directions. Thanks for the input though

I like the comment about moving back west. I would absolutely love to. But uncle sam has me pinned in jersey right now. I will probably be here for another year too. So I am going to have to make due til then.

Agreed that there isnt many places to go wheeling in the NJ area. Paragon would be the best bet for some technical trails if it were open. I've havent been there but have been to the Pine Barrens and the Deleware Water Gap area . Click the links for some info and pics.

anywhere in the pine barrons is definitely good. tinton falls has some spots RIGHT BY NWS Earl. like bordering the fence. i have a few good shots from there

Thank you guys! Definitely some good options. Now I know exactly what I am doing this weekend. The Rausch Park looks like one hell of a time. As soon as it gets a little warmer me and the wife are headed up to do some wheelin and camping.
