Hello everybody, I am new to the forum and hopefully will be a 4runner owner very soon. I am making the change from Jeep over to the 4runner. Almost a no brainer. I have some great Jeep horror stories. Anyways, I was hoping you would be so kind to offer your insight so I can have the best 4runner buying experience possible.
I am working with a dealership in Colorado Springs, Co that will shop the national auction circuit for me. They will sell the 4runner at cost + transportation + dealer handling fees + taxes. I do not have to pay for it until I have a chance to inspect it inside and out. I think this is the best approach because a lot of the 4runners in Colorado sell for a premium so going out of state to get one could help save a few thousand on the overall expense. I know to check for rust, etc.... For this plan to work, I have to tell them exactly what I want. I am looking at the 05 to 07 and would like to go with the Sport or Limited models. I do go into the mountains almost every weekend and most of these trips take me off road so I need the best rig on and off the road. I will probably put 3 to 5k in aftermarket parts into it over the next 18 months so I need the best model for upgrades. We will use the SUV for long road trips as well and I do have two small children so I was thinking leather seats would be nice, easy to clean with kids and they are comfortable. I was also looking at the V6 over the V8 based on fuel economy. The engine type has been the hardest decision since the MPG are so close. What am I overlooking? Please let me know what model you would request and why? Is the Limited worth the extra money (if it is, I do not mind paying extra)?
