I Pick Her Up on Monday!!!

Well, I will be picking up my new 05 Galactic Grey Mica Limited V8 4x4 4Runner this coming Monday. She is equipped with all the limited goodies, as well as Nav and rear seat audio. I can't wait to get her, and then break her in, and then really have some fun. I don't want to beat a dead horse, but can someone give me a quick summary on exactly how I should break her in the proper way. Thanks for all the help so far. You'll be seeing plenty of me around here for quite a long time.

For the first 1000 miles, vary your RPM. No sudden acceleration and try not to stop fast. Change your oil after break in.

Well, it's Sunday night, and I have hours to wait until I pick up my 4Runner. My salesman doesn't come in until noon, so I guess I have to wait until then. Looks like I'll be on t4r.org until I fall asleep at the computer. Thanks for all the help so far....I'm already thinking of mods....

So that is around 14 hours (Eastern time) until you have the 4Runner in your possession! I know how I felt the day before I got my 4Runner; it was like time didn't move. If you want to pass the time, just read every single thread in the General Discussions forum. Enjoy the new 4Runner when you get it tomorrow.

Well, I got a call from my dealer that they discovered a 2 inch scratch on my 4Runner. They have given me the option to either pick it up today and have it fixed at my convenience, have it fixed first and then pick it up, or choose another 4Runner. The problem is, that this is the last Galactic Grey Mica Limited that they have with Nav. Damn, I really was excited about today. Should I have them fix it, or start looking for a different 4Runner? Thanks.

They have given me the option to either pick it up today and have it fixed at my convenience, have it fixed first and then pick it up, or choose another 4Runner. The problem is, that this is the last Galactic Grey Mica Limited that they have with Nav. Damn, I really was excited about today. Should I have them fix it, or start looking for a different 4Runner? that's a tough choice.... I wonder if they'd give you the same deal on an '06 for putting you through all of this trouble. Problem is, with a scratch in a dark metallic paint like the galactic gray, they will have to repaint the entire panel to get it to blend correctly. I wonder how bad the scratch is.

Where is the scratch? I put a 5-inch gash (contact with a mailbox) in the plastic fender flare on my 2004 4Runner and had a local body shop repair it. He took off the plastic flare, filled in the gouge and repainted it. I'd challenge anyone to find it. Why don't you have them fix it and make the sale subject to your inspection and satisfaction?

I would say turn down the scratched one and go for a 2006. It is a brand new truck and you should have it perfect for your money. It has to be a nasty scratch if the dealer informed you about it (they like to hide these things from a customer). I know how I felt when I put a scratch in my tailgate from the garage door on my 2 month old truck. The Galactic Grey is not an easy color to touch up. I would definitely make the dealer compensate you on the 2006 for your inconvenience. I hope everything works out for you!

Well, I am now the proud owner of a 2005 Galactic Grey Mica V8 Limited 4Runner. They had another one trucked in on a flatbed from a nearby sister dealership, and gave me another $500 off. I have only put 20 miles on her (the ride home) since the fiance was a bit upset that I was gone all night. I really want to go out into the garage and play with the Nav, set up the homelink.....but I do have to wake up at 4:30, so I probably should just wait until tomorrow. Well.....I guess I could just set up my 'Home' address on the Nav, that shouldn't take me too long!: Tomorrow I'll put up a new post in the Gallery with some pics of the new ride. Oh yeah, everyone complains about Dunlops as stock tires, but I got some Bridgestone Duellers on her. Did I just get lucky?

Good luck with the new truck. I am glad there was a happy ending to your story. The navigation system has many cool features on it that will surprise you!

Well, not really. All sports and a good number of SR5's come with the Dunflops. I would say around 85% of the Limited's come with Bridgestones, 10% with Michelins, and 5% with Dunflops. I am going by what I see around my area.
