Alright so here is a start of a build thread. I have done alot to my truck so Im not gonna go back through and explain everything but ill show you some pics of the process. I am starting to really get into some technical mods where I need a little feedback and stuff so any advice would be very appreciated. Enjoy. Here is what I have done so far.

No it was a local builder here in washington. He sells them for like 400 a piece. If your interested or anyone else is interested in gettin one let me know and I can give you his contact info.

I am going to build my own rear bumper and sliders thought.

Nice truck, and that's a really nice looking tube bumper. The homebrewed roof rack is sweet, and of course, I love the Duratracs.

231 upgrade

Alright so today I got around to my 231mm upgrade. I followed Bigfishallday's write up.(http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/94923-hard-find-specs-info-measurements-231mm-13wl-tundra-calipers-rotors.html ) So thanks big fish. It was pretty easy upgrade and took only an hour and a half or so. I had to use some spidertrac 1 1/4" spacers for my wheels to cover them but all is well and looks and works great.

Don't worry I want to do a decent write up for the fans. It was super easy and super cheap compared to what I thought it was going to be. I just wished I had a way to measure how much hp I am gaining with it. We will see..

rear cargo box

Hey so I got tired of having a big tough box style box in the back to carry all my gear in.So I made a make shift cargo box. I used 3/4" plywood and some 1 x 4" planks for some support. It works for what I needed. Its no where near as nice as what I wanted but it'll do.. I bought the wrong size chain binders to tie the box down with so I had to use 550 cord. ghettooooo.. lol

I found some rubbermaid tubs that work perfect to hold my gear and crap.
I bought a 6' x 8' carpet at lowes to cover everything with. Not bad for a half day project.

Oh and just ignore the massive amount of dog hair.. My german shepard doesn't clean up after herself..

here is a sneak peek of the dual electric fan set up I got.. Its installed and hooked up just not how I want it right now. More to come.

Fans out of a 98 taurus. 50 bucks at a pick n pull.
Going with a derale 16720 fan controller.

electric fan mod..

Ok after some troubles here and there trying to get it running right. I think I have the right setup. Here is what I got.

98 taurus dual fans. 1 fan is 13.5" and 1 fan is 12". ($50)
Derale 16720 fan controller ($35)Amazon.com: Derale 16720 180 Degree Farenheit Single Stage Electric Fan Controller: Automotive
32mm inline radiator hose temp sensor adapter.($25) Radiator hose adaptor-Prosport Gauges Upper radiator hose adaptor

Like I said there was some trouble getting it set up right so don't get discouraged if you dont get it right at first. After getting everything installed I had to replace my thermostat to get it right. So if your fans are running right and the controller is running correctly look at your truck. Make sure you don't have a clogged radiator or a broken thermostat.

Ok so there are alot of steps to this so I am going to abreviate it and give you advice on my troubles.

1) Find fans. Check a local pick n pull, amazon, or whereever. Just make sure you have the connectors for the fans if you get them from pick n pull. Dont forget to test run the fans!
2)Build your shroud. Use a thicker alluminum sheet metal so it cools faster than steel but is still strong enough to support your fans. Dont forget to test fit!

3)attach fans and check for clearance. This is kind of tricky depending on the type of fan you have.
4)attach controller to fans and shroud. This will make it easier for wiring everything up later
5) Drain radiator enough to pull top hose off radiator. Dont forget to refil it.
6) pull stock shroud and fan out.
7) Install new shroud with fans and controller attached.
8) install Inline temperature sensor adaptor in TOP radiator hose. Just cut in the middle of the straight portion of the hose.
9) Wire everything up according to Derale controller instructions. I didn't know where the ac clutch was so I didn't wire in the ac override switch. Don't forget a kill switch for fording water.
10)test everything. Run the truck at idle until operating temp and make sure the controller turns on at the right temp. Let it run for a bit and keep an eye on the temp.
take it for a test drive at different speeds. Drive in town with lots of stop and go's and at higher speeds for long distance.

If it runs good with no high temps your good to roll..

I did this about a week ago and will keep you updated on any changes. I dont have any real data (horsepower changes and voltage usage) on this just some screen shots of the data from my obd2 scanner with my phone.

So I just ordered my national luna battery isolator and dual battery controller from sierra expeditions.

A little update..

Currently have Sway bar bushings, upper and lower ball joints and CV's for both sides sitting in the garage. I am putting them on slowly but surely. And still have the national luna stuff waiting to get done. Got enough wire to do the BIG 3 mod too while I am at it. I Just built the frame for the dual battery. Made out of angle 1 inch angle iron. I welded it up tonight. Trying to get as much practice as possible with welding. Got a bunch of projects I want to do that requires alot of welding.

I have another engine on the way and it'll be here on monday. After Engine haus wouldnt honor his warranty I was done trying to fix that POS engine he sold me. So I got a used one for a guy in OR. 88k 3.4L engine for 1500.

Also have an E-locker on the way as well with the engine. Very exciting. Cant wait to get my truck up and running again.

Sorry for my ignorance here, but what is the purpose of dual batteries? Is one more of a reserve, or they both used simultaneously?

No its totally cool. Here is national luna's wiring instructions for their setup they offer if you really want to learn about it (http://www.sierraexpeditions.com/productimg/split-charge_manual.pdf). It gives you a some details on why to have 2 batteries. For short its basically so when you go camping and have your fridge, radio, lights, inverter and all your other acessories running it doesn't run your main battery down. This set up will allow you to have 1 battery fully charged at all times to start your vehicle and one to run all your acessories on. There are alot of options to wiring it in to give you different results as well. Read into it if you like camping or ahve aton of junk draining your battery, its pretty interesting.

I choose to get one cuz of my winch. It drains my battery pretty quick if I am not careful.
