So I have been visiting this site for quite a while and although I don't post much more than: "nice ride" or "looks sweet!" I have been learning and modding since day one. I know, I know, this thread is worthless without pics, and I am kicking myself for not taking them as I have been going along.
So here's the story (I'll try keep it short):
Purchased '97 SR5 4Runner in '08 with just under 200k miles, my initial thought was it's a Toyota and I need something cheap w/4wd for a dd and weekend vehicle. I had some employment issues and had 1 yr prior sold my '04 TRD Tacoma. The vehicle was virtually rust free and my mechanic tore the thing apart trying to find something wrong other than needing new tires. I don't think I drove it more than 2 weeks before modding started, the easy stuff at first, tint on front windows, 265/75 BFG AT's, vent visors and bug flector, K&N FIPK, new plugs and wires and throttle body spacer (still not sure if this does anything other than make a whistle noise), then lifted the rear with OME 891's and spacers in front, then found some wheels on craigslist, then lifted the front OME 881's, got clear turns n corners, got in a wreck, got her fixed, and a roof rack, painted bumpers somewhere in between, got a short throw shifter, and drank a lot of beer in the process. I almost forgot the exhaust, bluetooth w/ipod controls stereo, alarm, '99 seats, center console, and headlights.
One of the girls that works for me always tells me I spend more a month modding my 4r than her payments on her Mercedes, LOL
