I think 4th gen values may be headed down

My friend traded this in about a month ago. Lake Havasu City, AZ used 2007 Toyota 4Runner Limited V8 - Anderson Toyota-Scion, Lake Havasu City, SUV, 4.7L V8 It has been setting on the lot for about a month now. I remember not to long ago that this thing would have been gone within a week. The price is high but this is a 34k mile near mint lifted, loaded, V8 Limited 4x4. It seems there are a lot of new 4runners on the lot also. In the past they were sold about as fast as they got them in.

Should go for no more than 22-23k max. That's about what I paid for mine that had 21k miles back in March. Same year and v8.

The original price on mine was $18,999 and bought it listed at $15,400. Sat for a couple months, and was a 49kmi sport V8.

I think this is a good time to buy, but not a good time to trade in. I'm sure there are many dealers who haven't been moving cars. Used car "values" are out o control in general.

The guy that owned it is in his upper 70's. I think older people like that carpet on the dash. No the dash is not cracked, this thing is like brand new.
It even has memory seats. It has always been in garage and waxed a lot. Absoulutely no rust Arizona 4runner.

Yeah, price seems a little high, especially since it doesn't have Nav. Where we live, 4th gen V8s take longer to sell than V6s, but that might be just a regional thing.

That is not fully loaded. Missing nav and ride height. In NJ, you can't find any V8's on the lots. My writer at Toyota is offering me a nice price for my truck- I said no

I don't feel like values are decreasing. I received $14,120 for my 2003 SR5 V8 less than two months ago from the insurance company after it got totaled. Then, I found my 2006 SR5 V8 a week later. It was at a dealer, originally listed for $17,990. I got it for....wait for it... $11,800 before taxes and fees, $13,500 out the door. I put the difference toward the timing belt, water pump service.

Mine was listed for 15,798 at carmax in October 2011. Didn't haggle (can't with carmax anyways) but the KBB was over 16k. It had 55,777 mikes when I drove it off the lot. Couldnt find a cleaner 03 (the cladding was extremely faded, but about 5 applications using a generous amount of mothers back to black and it looked new.) Love it. there was a Silver 03 exactly like mine (just silver and has hideous wheel covers that were chrome) with I think 73k. I bought mine and looked back once because of the MPG at first. Now my stomach isn't so bad at the pump anymore.

damn that is good, im scared away by some of the prices... dealers hold onto their prices so much, or maybe they are just screwing me over

most of the 2003-2006 v8 are going in the $14-$20k area

I looked at a 2004 SR5 V8 4x4 in Alpharetta, GA and they has it liked for 23,600 and it had 105k mi. They have that thing for 5 months before they dropped the price to 15.5. Sold like a hotcake then. It was really clean but not 23k clean.

had this same problem with a 3rd gen-1999 v6 5sp they want $10,380 and would only go down to $10,000 cash thats it, because the 5sp is rare, said it would be sold if i didnt take it home..... been a couple weeks now for them

i love that the 4runners and Tacomas hold their values so much but it sucks buying one even as a cash buyer, because i want to be ahead of the game on purchase date not over booked!

I almost bought that 4Runner your friend traded in, but the dealership wouldn't come down much (they'd get to around $26k, needed to be lower). Though, it did have a full set of BFG A/Ts.

I found another one in a more geographically reasonable place.

Where are you located? I just bought mine in NJ for $14.5 (not incl TTL) with 78k miles back in may.

On top of that, there was another '06 listed at $16,000 with 126,500 miles on it when I got my '06 SR5 for $11,800 with 109,500 miles. These prices are all over the place but my guess is that these dealers try for major profit with the 4Runners.

Of course they are going down in value. They hold their value well but they are a depreciating vehicle. Tacomas hold their value a lot stronger than Runners for some reason.

My 1.5 cents from having sold cars

When they take in a trade or auction truck w after market mods they generally give u the book value based on stock vehicle and add for factory or port installed oem options or mods but don't add in for after market mods, then they markup for the vehicle and for the after market mods.

Another thing to consider is having offroading mods price you out of the regular used market and put the vehicle into a specialty market for people looking for an offroading vehicle (ie a soccer mom that would have ordinarily loved your truck doesn't want a lifted monster offroader w big meats and winches and such)

Only fellow offroaders are looking for that, to the average consumer who wants a dependable SUV w 4wd so they can get their kid to hockey practice in snow thinks a lift is a bad thing because he wants a low step in height or better gas mileage.

One last thing is from having worked on a used lot, how many average car salesmen know enough about your mods to be able to educate customer and move that truck?
