This is why I hate letting people work on my stuff. Lazy & slopy morons!!! And this was a certified Toyota technician in Katy, TX...Not only did he forget the bolt, which is not unheard off, but he has a bad attitude about it as well.
This might help explain the 3/4" driver side lean that came after the Bilstein 5100 installation.

I work ALOT & have some multi day shifts, so I just dropped it off during one of my 60hr shifts. He did it off the clock at a reasonable price ($340 install & align), so no warranty. Not the most descent man I guess. Wouldn't have posted this if he would have said "my bad, sorry", but he had attitude about it. I'm just venting.
Anyway, this isn't dangerous I think? Part will be here Thursday.

Definitely no excuse for bad attitude but how long ago was the install? I did my own install but you are supposed to check and re-torque suspension like 100 miles after install or so. I didn't check mine soon enough and the nut to the rear shock worked itself off. The bolt stayed through just by tension so it wasn't totally free but the nut was long gone and I had to order a new one.

Didn't want to cause problems for the guy, but I guess if it's true, there is no recourse.
The guys name is Jesus from Don McGill Toyota in Katy, TX. They're allowed to do work off the clock as long as it wasn't diagnosed at the dealership or affect their business.

That off clock business at Toyota dealership sounds fishy as hell. I would doubt legality of all that activity and for sure would not trust my car with it. Sry bro but sounds like you got schooled by Jesus and he most likely lost his job. His attitude got him in this to begin with therefore I hope he learns his lesson for future in any career. GL

I had mine work itself out too after my install. Now I carry spares all the time and re-torque them every so often. Temp solution is to go buy a bolt (home depot, autozone)

My husband had his pads and rotors changed on his EVO by a "certified mechanic" (after hours/off the clock) at the base Auto Hobby shop. When he arrived home he said there was some terrible squeaking and he didn't figure it to be normal. He and I pulled the wheel off.... the brake pads had been put in backwards.

It's not safe to have a shock dangling by the top mount, no.

There's no reason you can't get that fixed ASAP. You shouldn't have to wait for a very common bolt and nut. It's very accessible, and you can easily do it yourself in your driveway. Borrow a torque wrench - make it happen. For goodness sake, don't drive it any more like that.

I work an awful lot of hours too, but I'd find time to run around and re-torque everything. That could have ended horribly.

Sorry about your bad experience. That could have been catastrophic, so we should probably call this a draw.
