Hi, my name is Chet
My wife and I have been looking for a first generation 4runner and think we may have found one. We found an 87 all stock except for the wheels. No rust CA truck and it drives great with good compression and new shocks. The downside is that it has almost 250,000 miles on it. They are asking $3,500, my uncle had one that went to 400,000 miles before he sold it and the guy that bought it is still driving it. Does this sound like a good deal to you guys. Thanks for providing this service, I have belonged to a forum for all of our cars and they are always helpful.

post some pics, that'll give us a better idea of what you're working with. Definitely hit him with a lower price first.......... people like money regardless :D

You are looking for a low percentage vehicle. Just have to be looking and ready and it could be a day or a year before you find one.
Finding one that someone has already ruined - easy.

i found mine using that search utility there, you can search entire states at one time.

I saw a nice 87 on ebay a couple days ago, it was 2500 and in Maryland.
 
yeah I have found a few that are a little thrashed
or very nice ones that are too expensive for us
I will try the search method that you recommended

That thing is lookin pretty sweet! I am partial to white ones (ever since my landcruiser 80 obsession) even though my truck (niglet) is black as sin.
I'd go check it out brother, test drive it, take your time and feel it out.
Im pretty sure I went through all 50 states, for multiple years of runners on that site, ees goot sheet mate! If its not too far to look at it, Id go. I drove 100 miles to check out my truck, and that was just a prelim check. WOOP WOOP!

it does need new tires, and I might do the wheels while I am at it

I am looking for some good tires to run in light snow (Bend OR)
31" with some black steel wheels

you guys have a good place to look?
