I think I got the wrong tranny cooler?

Picked up one from Baxter Autoparts. Its a Flex a Lite rated for 10,000 GVW (light duty). Dimensions are 5" X 12" X 3/4". The parts guy told me it was more than big enough for a 4runner. Here is a link to what it looks like and other's that are available:

Its the 4110 model. I thought about returning it and getting the 4116 model or ??? I am looking to bypass the internal trans cooler.

Also, I assum standard Valvoline Dex III is good for a tranny drain and fill? What about the high mileage stuff, its a little more money so I am not sure if its worth it.

i think that size should be ok on the stock one you will have two lines a inlet and a return just cap those of and move the lines to the new unit theres a few post on this subject

It's on the small side compared to what most people have been putting on their trucks as of late. Kind of depends on where you are at and what the weather is like. As far as the fluid goes Dex III is what is normally called for. If you want to spend more get the synthetic Dex VI.

I live in Portland, OR so the weather is usually mild. However there are times when it gets in the high 90's here in the summer, but that is usually only for a couple of days out of the year.

I will probably return it and get something a little bigger.

debating between tru-cool 4454 and the b&m 70264. they both are about the same footprint just the b&m being 2x as thick. i live in az so for about 5-6 month its 100+ out here. read something as don't overcool your atf fluid. would tru-cool suit me out here or should i spring for the b&m 70264 since its rated higher. read many posts just want to get a straight answer. thanks

Well, I took it back and got this Hayden:

Seems to be a little bigger and of better quality. Is it big enough even to tow a utility trailer with, or possibly a tent trailer in the future? Parts guy said it was way better than what was stock and should be fine.

I almost went with the 679, but its for towing 10k lbs. Probably overkill and overcool.
