tl;dr - I couldn't be happier with my 4runner and I can't stop spending money on it for the growing list of mods I want.
I've always had trucks growing up, whether it was my own or I was borrowing it from my dad. My very first truck was a 1979 Toyota Pickup that my parents bought in 1979 (year I was born) and took over when I turned 18. After that was my dad's 94 Toyota Pickup that I borrowed when I could, and eventually inherited after my dad died. Fast forward a few years and I picked up my brand new 2006 Tacoma TRD OR Prerunner (see the trend yet?) in July 2006 with 12 miles on it. All of these trucks have been great on fire roads, but there's always been one similar issue, they were 2wd. Granted the Tacoma has a rear locker, but I've been yearning for a 4x4 since I started driving.
Fast forward to 2015 and a series of fortunate and unfortunate events allowed me to finally get the one vehicle that I've always had my eye on. A 4runner! I've had my eye on the 4runner since 2001 when I was still fresh in college and had a good job at the time. I was about to pull the trigger on one when I was laid off from my job and set back financially. The first in a long string of woe is me that I won't get into, but in the back of my mind I still had my heart set on a 4runner. Took a few years and finally got a job that allowed me a new vehicle, but I couldn't justify the cost of a 4runner and picked up my Tacoma instead. Even that one, I wanted 4wd, but just couldn't find one in the package I wanted so I had to settle with what I could get.
Took a little bit longer, but I finally got my 4runner, and now that I have it, I can't stop. I'm addicted to this website. I'm addicted to the build threads. I'm addicted to the way it drives, on and off road. I'm addicted to the thoughts of what I want to do to it. I'm just straight addicted. I love it and I can't wait to start putting this pile of parts that I've collected thus far into it and start my own build thread. Hopefully for future owners to look at and be just as addicted as I am. Thank you T4R and the countless great threads and builds that continue to contribute to the draining of my bank account.
