I think my clutch is slipping...

How do i know forsure? I think the guy that had my truck before did quite a bit of towing with it. It feels like it may be slipping so i just want to check before it turns into a more serious problem. what are symptoms of a slipping clutch? could that cause horrible gas mileage too? last tank i hit about 8.5mpg. i cleaned my MAF and ran Seafoam through to try and fix the MPG problem...

slipping clutches occur mainly because the clutch is worn out. The problem will only get worse but will not cause damage to the vehicle. Eventually it will slip so bad you won't make it up hills and then eventually you won't be able to accelerate. The only fix is replacing the clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing and having the flywheel resurfaced. Causes of early clutch failure include riding the clutch and rear main seal leak.

too tell the clucth is slipping go find a hill and drive up it in 3rd or 4th and put it all the way to the floor and if it revs up and dont gain speed its slipping
