I un-installed my HID low beam kit. Here's why.

Do you ever drive above the speed limit? If you do, you're endangering others on the road because that's the law.

You sound like a PITA to be around.

If I do it`s my choice and I`m ready to suffer the consequences.
But most of the time I don`t. It`s pointless, you burn more gas, you most likely to crash and barely make it few minutes faster. I stopped speeding after I realise how unimportant that is to bottom line. arty:

As you are still clinging to this point. Without the law being on your sode. That is your dog sir. Again it is pointless to try and attempt to educate you on the differences between standards and law. Not only ignoring the professionals who do the enforcement of laws. BTW, an officer does not choose what laws to enforce or what laws not to enforce. They are officers and uphold the law regardless. It is up to judges and lawyers to work out what ends up being enforced in the end. As far as tint law, when in Hawaii I was forced to remove my tint by an officer on the side of the road as well as a liscense plate cover and I was only 2% over by there machine to test my tint. Was pulled over for the license plate, yet the tint was in accorence to the law not his machine. Yet, officers choose to not enfore laws right? I dont get it. Your dog again is refusing to listen to thise around you and conceed that you may have to change your thinking. Yet I am having this sinking feeling again it is a pointless debate as you seem to think or come off as always wanting to be right?

Oh well on to better things. Sorry op didnt mean to muck it up too much. Just wanted to point out that it wasnt illegal in every state. Thanks for your insight as well as others.

I still get flashed on the emptier country roads by people in my 4th gen.

No HIDs, just nice Sylvania ZXE halogens in my '06~'09 projector housings as designed by the factory. I even aimed them a hair lower than they should be from the factory (even though before they were adjusted to be precisely where the factory called for on a stock vehicle after I had lifted it to be courteous to other drivers). Yet I STILL get flashed by everyone when they crest a hill or on an open road.

Why? Well when you're driving 30min~hours on a road with no other light source and you suddenly see modern halogens as you crest a hill they may as well be damn spotlights searing your eyeballs out. I even get into "Hi-Beam" flashing wars with people because they don't seem to understand I don't really use my hi-beams ever as I can see fine with my low beams. It's rather frustrating since they don't realize that they blind me when they crest a hill...

You're not gonna get flashed in a city or town because of the ambient light pollution, out in the boonies there's very strong contrast that will make even the lower end modern halogen lamps seem like ricer HIDs. You can't do anything about it...

Enforced or not doesn`t matter, nobody enforce tint laws in Colorado, but it`s still the law.
People here have to understand that I don`t care how you break the law, i really don`t. have a handful of pennies for people blinding me.
Next time you catch penny in your windshield think why that could be.

And I would l hate for you to be the person throwing things at me and my family. As I would take that as a direct threat to their safety. Wtf serious talk dude. Are you related to the Aurora Shooter? Like an on and off switch. I may get mad at how others drive, might get annoyed at people driving too close, get temporaily blimded by the douche with brights on. But I go on and dont resort to an attempt of violence against ankther unless he is threatening me, my family, my battle buddies, or commiting a felony, or putting another human beings life in jeapordy. I might be an ass sometimes but truly do live by a moral code, ethics, and yes the Army Ethos. But I am a grown man not acting like a child throwing a temper tantrum.

And here is my BMW 750 with factory led headlights

I think for a non factory light the 4Runner comes up nice and like I said in my previous post I never get flashed. Would I with the original position of the lights? I have no doubt in my mind I would.

It would be great if someone put a thread together of such comparisons. IE setup a standard and others add there pictures by these standards so we can compare ourselves and make an informed decision with all the pluses and minus involved.

Example Standards:
Year
Vehicle (make and model)
Lift or not
What tires you have
Kit installed or certain bulbs (all pertanent information about the change)
Difficulty
Quality of kit
Satisfaction of factory
Satisfaction of upgrade on a progressive scale
Issues had (trouble aiming, hot spots, cars flashing, etc)


Pictures comparing maybe before and after if possible. Within certain perameters. Two lane road at least 100 yards straight, with 15 yards clear on the sides, etc. Someone much more educated on these things could come with simple stadards for such a thread.

I'm not saying someone is wrong going to back to stock but I am saying don't be a d**k by putting in a kit like this , drive around blinding people and make no attempt to aim them

Lights do not equal violence in action. A projectile thrown, slung, or shot is a projectile non the less. Mine just happen to come out of either my Glock or my SBRd AR that I keep in my vehicle. Or a regular AR when traveling out of state. Along with everything needed to survive and protect myself and family. I also stock a full medical trauma bag for the idiots who choose to act like idiots and domrandom acts of violence for some demented reason not known to me.

Have you really thought about the statement you made here?

Someone is breaking the law because they have changed the bulbs in a headlight.

But you have advocated throwing a handful of pennies at an oncoming car, not knowing who or how many souls are in said car, jeopardizing the safety of all concerned, even yourself, but you think that is justified or OK?

I wonder which jail term will be longer, the one where the person changed their headlamp bulb or yours?

Everyone else: This guy started a good thread on why he uninstalled his HID's. No drama, no judging, just his opinion based on observation. Great post.

Of course this hurt the feelings of several of you who spent a bunch of money on HID's and other lighting.

Then some had to go put in your .02 and most posts have nothing to do with the actual topic. Consider this a warning to everyone posting - Next time there will be infractions and then bans when you post just to start an argument, which several of you are guilty that posted in this thread. No more.

The HID lights seem good, but I personally do not like them. If I need more light, I will just hit the brights, or install some more lighting.

I do get annoyed by them when people do not install them correctly. It looks like their brights are on.

In any case, if someone is going to install them, they should do it correctly, even if that means extra work like readjusting the light. I do not think it is polite, and is even a safety issue, to have lights installed (whether HID or anything) that impacts someone like having brights on does.

The poster that mentioned about city versus rural driving because of the ambient light; I agree, the lights from anything are much more noticeable while driving in a rural or not lighted area, than in the city, and HID lights make it more so.
