i wanna lift

ok so for years i've been seeing all of you lifting your 4th gen runners
and been saying that it looks ridiculous.
now i LIKE IT
so i wanna get a lift going but i still want a comfy ride i got a kid and a nagging wife
i got a 05 v8 sr5
i want to also get kmc rims eventually on it either 18 or 20's
i was thinking of getting the trd suspension for the fj cruiser will it fit

Im still a new guy around here so I cant offer up a lot of info. However, I do know that any variation of the 4x4 FJ Cruiser suspension will fit, and provide a small lift. Most only claim .5 -.75" though. The biggest improvement when going this route seems to be ride quality (stiffer and more responsive).

I have a set of the FJC Bilstein suspension that I have not installed yet, because I cant decide if I want to do spacers at the same time.
 
The swap to FJC springs will improve the ride. It will also provide a very minor lift as stated by Camdz. This thread will give you some ideas... http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?t=51742

There's a few of us with some combo of spacers and FJC components. I couldn't be happier with mine especially for the money and my mostly on-road driving.

so i should change the springs also, cause i was just gonna buy the
fj trd shocks for the front and back.
what spacers should i get

Yes, use the springs.

There's so many spacer choices... My favs would be the Toytec levelling spacers or the "old school" Daystar 2.5/1.5 depending on what you want.

I wanna lift so i can put bigger rims and tires
i want a comfy ride, good performance and a wider stance.
i do barely any off roading (we loved to but iut sucks doing it alone)
so far im going to buy trd off road shocks for the FJ
FJ CRUISER original springs
toytec leveling spacers
what else do i need

Shocks will not give you any suspension lift. They are simply for dampening purposes.

IMO, you should get rid of the nagging wife and install whatever lift you want!:wink2:


My "old school" spacers work just as well as any aluminum spacer.

true, but as much as i want a real lift i need to maintian street status, so i can manuever in and out traffic, be comfy when im driving the garden state for 2 hours everyday and look good

Well, then it sounds like your best bet is to stick with the stock springs since you already know how they ride. Spacers will simply put a bit of distance between the mounting points now. Usually springs meant for heavier vehicles will have a different spring rate and will ride rough...
