I would like to get thoughts on my rotor / pad picture

I was getting my oil changed today and they told me my brakes were gone. they told me the same thing last yr and I went to do it and they were fine. Today I took the wheel off to measure and the rotors measured 27.90mm which I think is fine. The pads appear to be gone. i dont see any pad left.
In the picture you can see where pad is scratching rotor. is this the warning sign / sound ?
anythoughts would be great.

Looks like the squeel plate is close but not touching rotor yet, which explains no noise. But that pad is beyong too thin. You either have sticky pad or you riding brakes a lot if need new ones that often.
