IAC valve

Probably gonna replace the iac on my 1998. Opinions on getting aftermarket vs oem? There's a big price difference?...

FWIW, I would normally always recommend OEM parts. That being said, I was in a pickle a month ago with a rough idle after cleaning my TB and apparently clogging up my IAC.

I decided to try an aftermarket IAC from eBay.....if I was throwing parts at a problem I wasn't sure was yet correctly diagnosed, I figured a cheap, new, aftermarket IAC would be better than my aged OEM IAC.

I can't say anything about long term value, but for 60 bucks this thing has worked great for the last month and 1000ish miles. Cleaned my idle right up, the motor now runs the "smoothest" it has since I've owned it.

been write-ups on how to clean, there is not much to them, I cleaned mine and it worked great
however I did not have new gaskets around when I did mine
at least a new one will come with a gasket
just not the throttle body to manifold gasket

gonna pull mine back off in the next month and make a intake change, and replace the gaskets and one with the TRD throttle body gasket

I've cleaned mine, idle was back to normal again. Once in a blue, she will jump slightly to about 1500, then come back down to normal. However, today, truck was hard to start after I shut off for about an hr.......

I don't think hard to start after sitting an hour is the IAC doing that

Idle starts to jump then levels off at 900 in drive. In park and neutral it's about 1400-1500. I've read some threads, and people were saying the coolant temp sensor was bad?

well those were the same syptoms I had till I cleaned my system. I don't know what really fixed it, I cleaned my maf, throttle body, ICV, adjusted my cables and put in new filters ( fuel and air). all is good now, 2 months and several thousand miles

oh...and when you do stuff, disconnect your battery for at least a half hour, this resets your computer. otherwise the computer goes into the "running mode" it knows.
another thing....not knowing your miles or service history.....the upstream o2 sensor makes a difference. denso, amazon, 45 bucks.....often a neglected item
after doing all the things I mentioned above, the truck idled great but had a bit of a bump at idle. kind of like a racing cam...a slight ruff idle, but nothing big, like an occasional burble like one cylinder not firing right, replaced the o2 sensor last week...all gone

Let me try to disconnect battery. Which 02 sensor did you change? How many are there?
