Ice on inside of windshield

On several occasions this winter, I've had to use my ice scraper on the *inside* of my front windshield. Roughly 3/4's of the windshield gets covered, yet all the other windows remain clear.

Can anyone suggest a way to prevent this problem?

Make sure you don't have anything wet in your vehicle. I ice fish, and if I leave any amount of iced/wet things in overnight, it's the same story. Good luck!

I know it's a joke about leaving the windows open, but actually I never get the ice overnight.

It's only there when I leave work (around 5pm). I'm guessing that since I park outside, the sun heats up the interior, then when it cools off, the ice forms.

I try to keep the foot mats as dry as possible and I don't leave anything wet inside. It's also weird how the ice only forms on the front windshield. Anyway, I think there's a spray for eyeglasses to prevent them from fogging up. So, I was hoping somebody could recommend some kind of equivalent spray or window treatment for vehicles.

I wonder if a healthy application of Rain-X would help. It can't hurt. I know it definitely helps with fogging issues.

If it is just on the windshield, the moisture is most likely coming from the defrost vents. The moisture can be coming from 2 sources: fresh air intake and/or AC evaporator.

Keep the front wiper area free of snow. The fresh air intake is there, where the grates are.

You may have a drain clogged. The fresh air intake and the AC evaporator have drains. I don't know exactly where to look on the 4Runner. But near the firewall and under the dash are a good place to start.
