Icon Coilover Adjustment Issues

Hey everyone, I just installed my icon coilovers and seem to have some trouble adjusting them.

First, I installed both front coilovers and matched the number of threads on each side, thinking it would be the same length if the threads matched.

I put everything on and then drove around around my neighborhood a bit (a couple miles).

I then went home to measure each side and the driver side was about 3/4-1 inch shorter. So I rotated the driver side four of five times around and its still shorter.

The instructions say that I shouldn't reveal more than 2 inches of the coilover between the ring and the top and I'm pushing 2 inches on the driver side and it's still not even, does anyone have any suggestions or a reason why the threads are the same on both sides yet they still dont match?

I believe that the driver side is heavier than the passenger side due to the fact that the gas tank, battery, etc is on that side. I'm not to familiar with the Icons but for folks with Billies/OME combo, they use a spacer to compensate for the drop.

Drive it after you adjust it, make sure you are on level ground when you remeasure, etc.

You may need a spacer on the rear driver side to make it completely level.

Like jizzam stated, it's heavier on the driver's side and leans that way from the factory (at least mine and most others did). My front c/o's are both adjusted to 2" of thread and the truck sits even in the front and about 1/8" lower on the rear driver's side (with full gas tank). I balanced out the weight by having an ARB fridge, auxiliary battery, recovery gear and spare tire on the passenger side. When I open up the rear bumper swing arm, the passenger side is slightly lower.

Drive it around for a couple thousand miles, put the suspension through some flexing and let the springs settle. How much thread are you showing on the passenger side?

I have my driver's side cranked to max allowed, still about 1/2" lower than passenger side- can't do much about it. You can't notice it just looking at the truck. Like other's said, the truck is heavier on that side. At least you can adjust some of it out, unlike stock!

I had the same problem but it seems to be even now in the front. my right passenger is a little higher.

Ok, so no matter what, it will be uneven if i even out the distance between the spanner ring and the top of the coilovers on both sides.

Will it mess up my coilovers if I make the distance between spanner ring and coilover top on both sides uneven to make the car even overall?

I'm still stock front and v6 but mine are perfectly level with a full tank. I only had to crank them 1 or 2 more turns to do so. It is worth mentioning that I have the rear daystar 1.5" spacer on the rear driver (the rear is perfectly even too), which does lift the front a hair.

It won't hurt anything...that's what coilovers are meant for, to tune in the lift height in increments and adjust as needed..
