Ugh, I'm having the same issue. I purchased a brand new set of 2.5" Icon's with remote reservoirs in September of last year from an authorized Icon dealer, Slee Offroad, in Golden, CO. Slee also did the install. At the time, my '07 4Runner had 130k miles on it. Currently, my 4Runner has 136k miles on it.
Earlier this week I noticed a significant puddle of fluid underneath my passenger front shock (about a 6" circle) and significant oil on the shock body and lower A-arm. I took my 4Runner to Slee to have them look at it, and they told me that particular shock had lost its charge and that the front driver's side shock was leaking as well. Below are the notes they gave me.
"Oil on both front shock bodies, top caps down. Reservoir hose connections at body are tight. Right side has lost charge."
Since I bought my Icon suspension in the Fall, they haven't even seen any offroad use yet. So with less than 7k miles on pavement, I've got not one, but two bad shocks. To add insult to injury, now I have to take my 4Runner back to Slee for them remove the front shocks and coordinate the return with them and figure out a solution to make my 4Runner driveable for a couple of weeks so I don’t have to pay for a rental car for that time period.
So that puts me in a position where I need to buy Old Man Emu front springs and shocks as a “temporary” solution until my Icon’s are repaired under warranty. The irony is that I replaced my OME suspension to “upgrade” to the Icon suspension that I had for 6 years, 80k miles, many off-road trips, and never had an issue with. Not only that, I’m going to have to pay the labor at Slee for two suspension swaps, just to have my Icon's serviced under warranty, rather than replaced.
I guess I just learned the hard way that "high performance" and "rebuildable" are really just marketing buzz words for "fragile, overpriced, and unreliable."
