Shock rebuilds are a little intimidating at first, but are pretty simple when you get into them. If you decide to attempt it yourself just take your time and lay everything out exactly as it came out of the shock body. Use plenty of anti-seize on the bearing cups.
I bought an old used set of Icon coilovers for $300 w/ 2.0 IVD rear smooth bodies, rebuilt all 4 myself for about $150 in parts and nitrogen charging, and now have a killer suspension for less than the Bilstein route. This also encouraged me to service my own mountain bike forks to compound the labor savings. The end bearings are typically standard COM10, ordered mine off of McMaster Carr. I suggest ditching the trash spiro-locks for clip
If you do decide to ship them out I suggest 303 Shock Services:

That's awesome. I think you went the best possible route.
I have the non-resi Icon 2.0 in the rear on Eibach springs and they outperform easily the 6112s in the front. I expect today 650lb springs to stiffen the front but I now understand why the 6112s get reviews that are so mixed. They are amazing on road but leave a lot to be desired offroad, presumably because they are valved too soft.
I love the ride with my setup plus every component of the IVDs are replaceable or serviceable. The 650# coils up front with no swap bar handles nice and tight on-road and off. 90% of my driving in on-road/highway with my latest job and I have not needed to put the front sway bar back, I also have a stock front end and skid so my front weight is low.
Sleepydad, did you decide how you're going to proceed?
sleepydad have you tried calling QA1 or Viking shocks? They’re both in lakeville
no I will try them.
I guess if I get the fill tool and do the service myself as long as I can find nitro someplace I think I will be ok.

Those are some nice control arms! I've been dealing with a rear clunk issue and think it might be a bad rear arm bushing. Are these made by another forum member?
