so i took advantage of a sale and bought a set of icon coilovers for my truck. i am going to install them this Saturday anyone here run these? i am very please with the quality of these coilovers and hopping they ride better than my ome coils and tokico's i plan to do the rear piggyback reservoir shocks in a few weeks as well as the truck just doesn't ride as nice as it did before. i would love to hear any feedback from anyone currently running them as i do alot of daily driving but plan to offroad with them as well as time permits.

My friend Roy Lewis of savage offroad runs those. Two trips ago we swapped trucks for a few miles and I was like.....Wow those icons suck up the bumps like butter compared to my OME setup. You are gonna love it!!!

hearing all these great things about them is making me even more excited! Carlos i will definatly let you know how they ride. i paid $900 for them which is cheaper than i have seen them at most places. i picked up the extended version which were recommended to me since i have camburg uca's. the one reason i went with these as well is that they offer a matching rear shock setup. my current ome's and tokicos just seem beat and i hate how it feels as it has that tippy feeling when i turn and stuff.

CO's look awesome Tony! Can't wait to see them on. I'd lend a hand but I"m in Nor Cal, let me know if you put it off till next week for some reason.

ive been wanting these for a couple years. the cheapest i have seen is on wheelers, where did you find them?

only CO better than these are KINGS and FOX and they are around 1600

I wouldnt go that far. Kings are nothing special. The oem bolt in Kings have the worst travel of any aftermarket CO for the tacoma/4runner version I think they give you just under 8" of travel. and fox are good, but require different tools to charge them and their mounting width on standard fox shocks are different than all others, so if you build a buggy and use fox you have to stay with them ore cut the mounts off.
And the fox oem replacements have a resi, if you buy icon resi coil overs they are $1600 or more

Im sure you will be happy with you icon's

The ICON are fantastic on/off road. They are most effective at speed flying over bumps or rolling road conditions. As mentioned above, the feel is as smooth as butter. The 4R will float with little body roll and at times you don't even notice the bumps. You will notice a huge difference with the front coils alone. Once you get the rear system you will be very happy with your investment. You get what you pay for, and in this case every penny worth.
Additionally, the ICON where installed with the stock front bumper, 6mons ago we added a plated bumper with winch with no shock adjustments needed.

Congrats on your purchase.

8sm do you remember what the out of the box height was? i have read 2 inches but wanted to be sure as i am at about 2 and a half right now in front. also how much height does one full turn give? also what rear springs are you using and how much lift do you have all around?

IIRC, a full turn is equal to 1/8" in lift

i got them from a local shop i was browsing in during an errand in corona they only had one set. i will try to find the name of the shop.

We have a full ICON system on all four corners. Coils up front and rear reservior set-up. Through my son's business contacts, he was able to deal directly with ICON. The lift is about 2.5" front and approx 3" in rear. Not sure of the out of box heights since the install was done a my son shop. I do know he set the heights to what they are now. He is taking the rake out and going to 3" in the front to level the stance. Hope this helps.........

well i installed them today about a 45 minute job by myself. settings out of the box were pretty much perfect! its a tad higher in front but all in all i am sure when i get the rear resi shocks it will level the lift out. overall impressions they are freaking incredible! so sooth of a ride but balanced with firmness. a huge night an day improvement over the OME's and tokicos. the rear seems like its trying to keep up with the icons but can't but that should be fixed soon.

ok so i bit the bullet and ordered the rear piggyback shocks as well. the lead time on them is a week. so now i wait. i am pretty excited to see what they will do it the rear. as i am sure they will make the truck ride alot better than the way it rides now.

so I am really interested to hear your comparison between the ICON system and OME's. On a scale from 1 to 10, how do the ICON's ride? How would you rate the OME's? I'm interested, but not if the difference is like a 7 to an 8.
