Icon vs Toytec va bistein/fj coils

I know this has asked before but I am confident it will never be asked like this. I have an 05 GX470 that will need a new suspension in the next 12 months or so. It's my wife's car now but eventually it will become mine. Right now I drive an 07 s5r 4wd with bilsteins and FJ coils.

I like the ride, handling, and general appearance of my sr5 with 275/70/17s on it.

However, here is where it gets different. These are both asphalt queens. It not that I don't like to get dirty, I just rarely get the opportunity.

So here is the long term plan and I want to see if it passes your smell test. when the wife's car needs new shocks, I was going to put the fj coils plus some new bilstein 4600's in it (bc she doesn't wheel and wants a plusher ride. please let me know if there is a better shock that will give her good performance but still be plush) on her car with some 175/70/17s to fill the wheel wells.

I am then going to put the toytec plus some 285s on my sr5.

Down the road, when the sr5 is handed down to my boy (3 years or so). the toytec get pulled and the fjs go back on with some new 5100s. the idea being, I don't want him to feel to big and bad and try something stupid with it.

Does any of this sound right?

I just realized I never asked the actually question. Being a part time offroader (or maybe close to never) is there ANY reason other than cool points or hopes for future offroad capabilities to spend more on the ICON or even the toytec?

I doubt it. Most of the value in high end shocks like Icons is rebuildability (is that a word?) and digressive valving, neither of which will be hugely beneficial on the highway.

Yeah I am beginning to see that. At best I will be overlanding. But what if I want a little more lift than what the fjs give? What would be the next best cost effective measure?

Yep, OME. Slee sells a "low lift" kit that I'm planning on going with in a few weeks.

Wow ok. I can say that (and I know this is stupid) the Toytects have a really nice "look" and aside form that, they are adjustable without taking the strut apart. Considering that I want to put this on my wife's gx to "look stock" for a while longer, this might be a reason to get that.

I also like the idea of keeping her airbags though. I love my wife's "air bags". (both literal and pun)...

Sadly, with time. I am certain that both sets will start to sag.

Anywho, right now I am leaning towards putting this on the front of her ride with some bilsteins and see what happens.
